Best bang for the buck
I bought this cultivator not expecting much really. How well could this little thing do anyway right? I was surprised. I connected this to my Poulan Pro 33cc trimmer and went to work. I tore up hard dirt with grass grown over. The first pass took it down about 4 inches or so the second pass was all I needed. It will sink down on its own then slowly walk backward and its as simple as that. Very happy with this product and I don't think you get can a better deal.I thought I'd do a follow up...two years after I wrote this review, I'm still using this same cultivator attachment and it is still working just as it did out of the box. DURABLE

Big isn't always better !
With a 12 year old ,31cc Ryobi grass trimmer,I really didn't expect the Poulan Pro tiller attachment to do a lot of work...but any power combo is better than a shovel !Hooking up to the quick link system went smoothly,as did carrying the assembled unit to the winter old garden plot. A few pulls of the starter rope, and I was dig'n dirt.Holding about 3/4 throttle in the semi-hard soil and letting the weight of the tiller work it's way down to about 4 inches then pulling it back to me worked best. Fifteen minutes and I had tilled a 16" wide by 20 foot strip, ready for planting. The Poulan Pro is well made, sturdy and a great investment .Rick, Jamestown,CA.

Pretty good product
I've used it for several hours of tilling and it has worked very well. For me, it's a great alternative to buying/renting a tiller. I have Poulan Pro P335 (33cc) and it has ample power for this attachment. I'm sure a lower power head would still work great.Be aware that I have quite sandy soil so tilling is much easier. A more clay based soil would be much more challenging. Tilling heavier soil would be more a factor of your strength and stamina than your power head. Keep in mind that the weight of this unit is still quite light and requires a lot more physical strength for deep tilling. This is not a fault of the unit, however, just something you should be aware.

It's the Clutch
I bought this cultivator to go with my Poulan PPB3300R weedeater. After 5 minutes of tilling, the weedeater would run but it wouldn't turn the cultivator anymore. I found other reviews and comments about this problem. The cultivator attachment requires much more power to operate than a weedeater trimming attachment or an edger. Internet research led me to believe I had a bad clutch in the weedeater. Some people may be referring to this problem as a "stripped shaft". I replaced the clutch myself, and it now works again. Some things to know1. The clutch is centrifugal, and operates by slinging itself to the outside of the shaft cylinder. Centrifugal motion holds the clutch flat against the outside of the cylinder and the friction and interference between the clutch and the cylinder provide the drive that forces the shaft to spin. If the clutch is worn, it won't have enough friction against the shaft cylinder and will spin in place instead of driving the shaft (the reason some people may have thought their shaft was stripped).2. The clutch part is inexpensive and moderately easy to replace (30 min. to 2 hour depending on your mechanical aptitude?). Here's the instructions I used: Amazon delted the website in the original review, but google a website to repair the clutch in a weedeater. A couple of different websites should come up.3. If you decide to change the clutch yourself, you can order it for less than $10. Go to Ordertree.com to look up your model weedeater, and the part numbers for the clutch assembly.4. I like the cultivator, but it's heavy. I'm 225 lbs and in good shape and i can't imagine my wife at 130 using this long and effectively. .5. I'm giving the cultivator 3 stars. Minus 1 because the clutch problem is pervasive and I'm sure the manufacturers know about the problem, but haven't published what the problem is or how to fix it. Minus 1 for the manufacturer not emphasizing the weight and expectations for using. The weight itself is not especially heavy by itself, but when you are picking it up and moving it about at the end of a 3 or 4 foot pole (weedeater), your back will feel it over time. Much more so than a trimmer attachment.

it works great as long as you don't force it and let ...
use for simple gardening only. it is a little heavy, if you get a rock caught in it, turn off immediately and clear it. do not try to break it out using the motor, it will only burn out your clutch. it works great as long as you don't force it and let it do the work. Also depending on the size of your motor, good idea to run for 10min and break for 5. will help for longevity of your motor

Save your money!
I've had three of these accursed things over the past 18 months, and not one of them still works. The first one I got locally at Wally World. I was hoping to get the front and back beds around my house turned. Almost made it. About 3/4 of the way through the job the job the thing bound up and was dead. I did the remaining ~50 square feet with a turning spade.Figuring mine was somehow defective I ordered another one this spring from Amazon. It lasted even less time that the last one; I was able to churn up /maybe/ 100 square feet before the tillers stopped turning. This time, I contacted Amazon who was AMAZING in cross-shipping me a replacement. (Thanks, Amazon!)The third one I've had probably didn't even make 75 square feet of flower bed turned.Keep in mind, with each successive one, I've "babied" it more than the previous one, knowing how fragile the predecessor was. It doesn't help. These things are *crap* and I'm not even bothering to ask for a refund or replacement for these things.I like my Poulan products and the other interchangeable heads and attachments. But this tiller / cultivator is total garbage. If you can't resist the temptation to spend the money on this, go out and mulch a couple of $50 bills into your dirt. Doing so will be a whole lot quicker, much less frustrating, and about the same overall value as this rinky-dink thing.
