Clear and concise instruction for learning chords (suitable for beginners and intermediate players)
An excellent book which is perfectly suitable for beginners, showing you where to place your fingers, learn Em, Am and C chords and you're off. It progresses quite quickly into barre chords, some (arguably not well explained) music theory, sevenths, sixths and suspended chords. There's definitely content here for intermediate players with variations on seventh chords, diatonic and chromatic alterations so 9ths, 11ths and 13ths. There's a lot here concisely explained with good practice chord sequences following each section. It is not a chord dictionary but more a contextual thing, progressively introducing you to different qualities of chords (e.g. major, minor, dominant sevenths etc...). This is probably going to be of more use to most players than the more simple chord dictionary format showing merely chord diagrams. I have found it a very helpful text in my long-standing struggles at learning to play guitar and intend to go through it once again. Some of the chapters are borrowed from other books in the extensive library of Fundamental Changes texts. My gripe with this book is that there are two chapters at the back (How to Practise, and Adding Rhythm) which are clearly aimed at beginners and really would make much more sense as opening chapters. That aside, this is an excellent text which has all the hallmarks that this range of guitar textbooks does so well: clear, concise yet comprehensive instruction.

Very informative
I like that the book takes you to be able to make music from the beginning. No 100 pages of theory, just practice methods and chords. And in the beginning of your guitar experience, thats basically all you need, i guess. Combine it with an app that teaches you songs by telling you what chords to play and you'll play your favourite songs in no time! At least i hope so.
