Nice grinder
Works very well to grind beans. It's small enough to pack with you if your going camping or elsewhere you may not have electricity. The only down side is it takes about 20 minutes of cranking to grind enough beans for a 12 cup pot of coffee. Your arm gets tired. I love that the jars have lids to store the already ground beans if you make extra in advance. It came with two jar bases.

Works well until it breaks.
This guy works well to grind beans! It does it quietly and evenly and is wonderful in every way. But one day I got some AWESOME beans from Costa Rica via Blue Bottle Coffee and they were slightly smaller than my usual beans. The difference in bean size was enough to make the grinder difficult to turn and when I applied my strength to the issue the ceramic element shattered. Now I've got grounds mixed with ceramic and need a new grinder. I'm going for the Hario Ceramic Coffee Mill that this is a knock-off of.

Horrible. Don't waste your time.
I bought one of these and it last two weeks. The ceramic burr cracked on me. I know I had a cheap one and I assumed that because I was trying to get a really fine espresso grind with it that is probably what broke it. I decided to get another one with the lesson learned of not to go for too fine of a grind. So when I get the replacement I set up for a grind with my V60. That isn't too find and is actual pretty close to most grinds you get when you order pre-ground coffee.......well I turned the crank twice and the burr shattered again. I will not be replacing it. I sent it in for a refund. Do not get this item. The phrase "you get what you pay for" really applies to this, Just spend the extra money and get a Hario manual grinder. I've had mine for a year and still works as well the same day that I bought it. I bought this one here to keep at work. I actually prefer my blade grinder over this sub-par Chinese made burr grinder. You'd be better off getting a mortar and pestile.

Great little manual coffee grinder
Great little manual coffee grinder. The lever arm is held in place with an easily attached / removed knurled knob type of nut. This is a nice feature that keeps everything together for the somewhat long time needed to do fine grinding. At least I tend to get a bit careless / sloppy with my grinding when it goes on for a bit. There is very little effort required to do the grinding, but you do need to be able to put up with doing it for a little while. It comes with a nice second glass bowl and lid which you can use to store excess ground coffee or spare beans. I find this very convenient as it allows me to use the second bowl while the other gets to completely air dry after washing. This is the first manual grinder I've used so not sure if this is inherent in them, or not, but it does finer grinds very consistently ... not so consistent with coarse grinding.Only short-coming that I noticed is no lid on top of the grinder bowl and bean bits do fly out during the grinding process. I made a lid out of a spare plastic container cover - you'll just need to make one small hole in the center of the plastic lid for the main spindle and one smaller hole for the locator arm that fixes the grind adjuster wheel in place. You'll see what I'm talking about if you get this unit. The lid I used was off of some container that originally had something else in it ... not quite margarine bowl size so not sure what the container originally came with. Being thin / flexible plastic, I was able to make the perfect sized holes very easily with just a hot nail (melted the holes). It works great - no more airborne coffee bits flying around the kitchen counter when I grind my morning coffee.Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Manual Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder
I bought the Manual Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder for my daughter, she wanted to try it on herbs but she couldn't adjust the grind finer for flax seeds (hence, it is a coffee grinder). I got it for half the retail price so I figured it was worth a try. She hasn't tried it on coffee beans yet. This product appears to be well made & is of a unique design.

What I needed.
Purchased this , primarily, for traveling. I love coffee and fresh ground is best. I have a bevel grinder at home but it is a large, noisy, heavy, powered grinder that doesn't pack well. Cost brought me to the checkout with this one. The ceramic grinding mechanism attracted me as well as I've had very good luck with ceramic pepper grinders as they hold their grind size adjustment well and the uniformity of the grind is surprising. This grinder is just the right size for travel, big enough to be ample and handy in use and small enough to be pack-able but not flimsy. Plus it comes with an extra grounds container, not that I will use that. Still, that adds to the value of this purchase. As to the quality, there is nothing I've noticed about this grinder that tells me it's not a good manufacture or design. The fifth star I hold in reserve for exceptional values, scarcities in the market place, and/or remarkable design, function, or utility. This item missed that star but I'd buy it again.

Two Stars
It is not work at all. Beans do not go through the cut. Keep the jar for storage.

Forget it.
It took me awhile to figure out how to adjust the grind -- no instructions. This thing is painfully slow, it takes me 20 minutes to grind fine for a pot of coffee. I'd send it back but it was only $10 so not worth the effort. I'm going to use this as a pepper grinder and keep looking for a better grinder for coffee. You need one with gears so you can mulitply rotations.
