This Worked For Me!
It's simple: This works if ya work it. I have 10 beautiful fingernails & have lost 20 lbs thanks to this simple technique. I have purchased this book (and the original) numerous times as gifts for friends who were struggling. Don't worry if you don't "feel anything" the first 7 or 8 times you do this. The more you do it, l the more you will relax & go into an incredibly peaceful, deeply calm place. I started doing this with his original book in 2007. I'm at the point now where, within the first two lines of the induction script, I'm in a state of trance, although not in any way incapacitated or "out of it"... Hard to explain, but it's a wonderfully nice feeling. This is the key to unlocking the potential of your "higher self", where so much power resides! That power is often unreachable in everyday life because it's wrapped in layers of neuroses that have developed in our personalities due to pain & resentment from from life's experiences. If you really give this the good college try, you will not regret it. I did not get "instant' results, but stuck with it, doing it a few times a week. Within a few weeks of doing the nailbiting script, I found I was naturally just dropping my hands to my sides with a feeling of calmness instead of picking & biting (I, a lifelong SEVERE nail biter). After doing the healthy eating script several times, I found myself taking a bite or two of a doughnut & then wrapping it & putting it away for later because I felt satisfied. Until this, there had been absolutely no conscious, cognitive processes that I'd ever tried before that affected these positive behaviors in me! Robbins is right: it has NOTHING to do with willpower & shaming oneself only drives one deeper into destructive behaviors! Hope this helps you, like it did me.

An excellent book for anyone who is interested in self-hypnosis.
In my late 20s and 30s I had taken many hypnosis training courses and also read numerous books on this topic to improve my skill in hypnotizing others and myself. The title of this (195 page soft cover) book (Instant Self-Hypnosis: How to hypnotize yourself with your eyes open by Forbes Robbins Blair) intrigued me and I purchased it on Amazon for a bargain price.I found this book to be a fantastic read and a good basic review of what I learned in the past about hypnosis and self-hypnosis. What fascinated me was the approach he discovered (or rediscovered) to help you enter the hypnotic state with your eyes open. He is right about the technique being easy to learn and apply. Like the author; I am also perplexed. Even though the technique seems to be “hiding in plain sight,” no hypnotist in the past seemed to have tried it or was unaware of its application.I am not going to give away the basic principles of how to apply this self-hypnosis technique because you need to read and study the book to understand the method the author teaches you. However, if you are interested in the various ways to use self-hypnosis to improve yourself in numerous ways this book is for you.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. It is excellent and it works
When I first heard "Hypnotize yourself with your eyes open" I thought: this is probably a scam. But I went and ordered the book anyway because I wanted to give it a try, I can't say something is a scam unless I try it...I love self help tools and hypnosis is a great self help tool, but before this book (and another one that I will mention later) I read a lot of books about self hypnosis and listened to many recorded sessions. For some reason I felt I was not 'getting it' and I was not sure If I was really hypnotized....Rick Smith's book was excellent and I finally started to see results but I wanted to know about how to hypnotize myself.Forbes Blair's book is excellent because:A) His system works, I hypnotized myself a few times already with successB) he explains all the principles of hypnosis in a way that is easy to understand for someone like me who isn't a hypnotistsuch as 'trance', 'master induction', what happens if you can't visualize so well and much more...C) his scripts are great, worked for me on the issue that I was working onToday, the only other book I can recommend along side this one is Rick Smith's book. But I would suggest reading this one first and maybe you won't need the other one.

This works. Hands down. I am a lifetime nailbiter, so I started with that to get a sense of whether this would work for me. Two weeks later, my nails are so long, I'm having to file them to type this review. I've also had problems with insomnia for the past five years--used the script for that, and I'm sleeping through the night. And then I did the one on procrastination. Does it work? Well, I've been putting off writing this review....Seriously. This works, and you should try it. I'm giving this book to everyone I know as a Christmas present.

This book helped me to shed 22 lbs and keep it off for seven years and counting. It helped me to write 3 books. It helped me to land 2 jobs. And today it will help me to work on my next project. I've given out at leaset a dozen as gifts. Taking the ten minutes a day out of your schedule to follow the prompts works.

Works for real.
Absolutely works. I suggest reading and following the instructions throughly. Some routines work best after multiple repetitions. The depth of your concentration makes all the difference. If you're a person who relaxes easily, you'll have an advantage. If you're fidgety or anxious you should get used to getting comfortable and going 'offline'. If you have trouble going under, start with the Hypnotize Yourself in a Weekend book. The book covers most of the things a person would want to change. Plus he provides instructions and guidelines on how to write your own. I've used the book scripts and I've written my own.The theory of hypnotism is covered adequately. The main points are there. The cover may look flashy and similar to so many other junky self-help books, but the contents are for real.

Wish I'd read it a long time ago!
I wish I'd read this a few months ago. I went to a 2-day 'Dealing with Stress' course at work and at the end of the 2nd day we had to vote between a deep relaxation session or group hypnotherapy with the understanding that if even only 1 person didn't want the hypnosis, we couldn't do it. I was scared because I really had naive ideas about what it meant but was too embarrassed to say anything. I honestly believed that being hypnotised meant I'd lose control. I was determined to resist and 'pretend' but after about 4 minutes I decided to relax a bit more and... Well, I may not have been very deep, but my God, it was an amazing experience! After reading the first part of this book I realised how daft I'd been and now I'm hooked! The fact is that you know exactly what's going on at all times. Something like a strong daydream, half asleep or being lost in a book.I wanted to know more because I saw it as a way of dealing with a serious drinking problem I have - I'm about 80% of the way to being an alcoholic! The author is right. Reading the text and relaxing is almost as good as a traditional session. I tried recording text and playing it back, but it doesn't work well for me. There are mp3s on the internet you can download. Some very good, some rubbish. The author's comments about the escalator is true. I'm slightly claustrophobic, so I prefer the idea (from my stress course) of a marble staircase. The only advice I can think of is to read a few more articles and experience some free mp3 downloads. Everyone is different and will have favourite induction pathways. Then you can put together your own version. Also, the background music is very important. One mp3 I tried was spoilt because the music was too interesting and my attention was on the music! Best is either no music at all or faint music with no pattern, sound of sea etc.How often you need self-hypnosis depends -I think - on how deep you go. I'm trying to use it once a day -20 mins -and so far it's working. In conclusion, yes, this book is definitely worth reading!

easy to follow
Well written, easy to follow, and effective. It dispels the ever-present misconceptions around hypnosis in general, which is a plus. It feels like autogenic training, in the sense that, while I didn't practice it every day and I do not feel that it influenced what I needed it for directly, it did relax me to the point, where I could perform said task with composure, even a hint of excitement. I think it will help me out a lot with bettering myself in the future. Thank you!

Actually works
I bought this as I was struggling with getting to sleep for a few weeks. Was a bit skeptical at first and wouldn't consider myself as someone who is easily susceptible to hypnosis, but the sleep script actually worked for me. I haven't really tried any of the other scripts so can't comment on that.

okay
Its alright, easy to do and adapt. Not sure of my results yet, I think I might need to continue a bit longer for that. What it did do, was make it clear on what I was trying to achieve instead of being vauge about my goals, writing my own routines helped narrow down what I wanted to do.
