US Merchant 24" Thermopile

This fit into our fireplace insert no problem easy to install. So far working good not sure about the longevity but it seems pretty well built. At these price point I ordered two to keep a spare on hand. If this fails prematurely I will update my review so far one month in 11-2022 and the fireplace fires right up no issues.

Works like a charm. Good price for thermopile replacement on a Heatilator GCDC80 fire place. Getting it installed was a bit of a pain due to how the fireplace was built but it works and i have a functioning fireplace again

Difficult and tedious to take apart gas firplace due to my inexperience(never done it b-4) but to my jow when it was all put back together it worked and it works well, my whole family is pleased to have the gf back online.

Fits like original and got my 750mlv gas fireplace back up and running great. If your gas valve isn't opening, check the voltage as it may be the pilot light thermocouple putting out less than required to activate the valve. Youtube has videos on how to do this. Install was tricky but not because of the product. It just is hard to access without disassembly.

Worked perfectly. Saved a lot of money doing it ourselves.

Okay, this was a challenge to install, but got it done in 2018. Last year (2023) the thermopile "appeared" to be going out again. I say "appeared" because the intermittent start occurred maybe twice during the cold season. Now in 2024 the thermopile is definitely going out again. Having to flick the switch 2 or 3 times every time I start the fireplace. That said, this thermopile did not last as long as the OEM part. OEM part lasted 15 years, this one 6 years. I could take a piece of emery cloth and clean it, but it will just start having problems again within a few weeks. Will have to replace sometime this winter.If I can find the OEM part, it would be worth it even at double the cost. It would save me time in the challenging install and last about 2.5 times longer. This of course is based off the original OEM part that came with the unit.

Works great. Our fireplace thermocouple's output voltage had degraded to where it was borderline whether the fireplace would start. Replaced it with this Heatilator Thermopile and works every time now. Inexpensive and easy to install.

Standard dimensions and good quality. Puts out 800 milivolts. I previously bought a Honeywell, but this item is equivalent quality imho but much more reasonably priced. Would buy again - if it ever craps out.. just check the lead length you need against the specs here, that Honeywell thermopile had a longer lead than this one.
