JOYRIDE SPECIAL EFFECTS/HAIR

At first, I was a little shocked to hear the reviews about this product, on amazon, and I didn't feel like buying it. Then, as I googled this product, I heard nice reviews that I gives a bright glow-y neon color on really light bleached hair. That's what I wanted exactly. So, I bleached some strips on my hair very lightly, they're pale blonde, and I just finished putting the dye over them. Right now, as I'm writing this review, I'm waiting for the dye to settle in. I actually think this dye has ONE problem, but It's not much of a big deal. The bottle won't squeeze that easily, but for people that use a bowl, can open it in a big way and pour it in a bowl. I used my fingers. My fingers aren't stained and this product smells good! Haha, smells like a shampoo to me. Overall, this product is amazing, even before I see my results, and they do not damage your hair like other permanent products. ^^ People that want to get this product, I highly recommend you to get it, I don't see why you are waiting for. :) You might want to bleach your hair to a pale yellow first, to get the best results, and to keep it longer lasting, and give it a nice bright-ish purple. I've dyed my hair a lot of times, with permanent colors and they really damaged my hair a lot. After using this product, my hair got a lot softer, and it doesn't make my hair worse. Also, I give thanks to The Garment District (The company who sells this product), because they were able to ship this product quickly. I ordered it on Thursday, they delivered it to me on Saturday, and now here I am, jumping up and down of my excite! :) I honestly think this product is a really nice purple, and the cool thing is, IT GLOWS UNDER BLACK LIGHT!!! :) That's right! That's also the reason why I was attracted to this product! I love it a looottt!

I haven't had any of the problems other reviewers had with Joyride. A few months ago, I went purple with MP's Ultraviolet and I absolutely hated the blue tones as it was rinsing out. My next dye I tried Ultraviolet Amplified with a little less than half Joyride, which rinsed out a little less blue but still wasn't what I was after. So, I let that fade all the way to that weird gray-silvery color and redyed with just Joyride this last time.Each time I dyed, I wrapped my head in cling wrap and ran my blow dryer on low with the diffuser for about 30 minutes every hour or so for as long as I could stand having my head all wrapped up in slime. Don't forget to rinse (& shower in general from now on) with COLD water, as cold as you can tolerate.So far, Joyride has been my favorite purple dye. After 4 washes, of course it has faded a lot compared to right after dyeing (such is the way of semi-permanent dyes) but it's a lovely pink-toned purple that suits my green eyes and pale skin.Don't be put off by the bad reviews if you're looking for "your" shade of purple, this is a great color even just for keeping in the cabinet to de-blue other dyes.

I bought this for my son who has short dark brown hair and used 3/4 of a bottle and let it sit for half an hour and honestly can't tell the difference once it was rinsed out. I knew it wouldn't be as obvious on dark hair but we did expect to see some change.The only way you will be able to see any color change is if you are willing to bleach your hair first or have very light hair, which would seem to defeat the purpose of semi-permanent special effects hair color.

This product looks really good, but doesn't last. I was hoping it would last as long as the Atomic pink of the same brand. Sadly I was mistaken.This product is good if you don't wash your hair much and use vegan shampoo and conditioner that will not strip color; or if you don't plan on keeping it longer than 2 weeks.

I really love dying my hair bright purple, and every time I have ever dyed it purple I've used Special Effects Dye. I decided one day that I wanted to try a new shade of purple and instead of buying my usual "Pimpin Purple" from Special Effects, I tried this one. Big mistake. My hair was already reasonably bright purple, and has been purple for 8 months now, it is even bleached, I just wanted to touch it up since a few spots had faded. I bought 2 bottles and put it on, I even let it sit for 4 HOURS, and it looks EXACTLY the same. It didn't even cover the faded spots. This color of dye is definitely the worst Special Effects Dye I've used, it was more watery as I spread it through my hair, and like someone else said, more like a glaze. If you like purple, I'd definitely still suggest Special Effects Dyes, just not this one. Pimpin Purple works extremely well in comparison.

My daughter has tried a few of the Special Effects hair dyes and loved them. Because she really likes purple, we decided to try Joyride. Unfortunately, we discovered it is different than some of the other SE's that we've tried. It's more like a glaze and washed out/faded VERY quickly (within LESS than a week), and this was on bleached hair. Very disappointed - but we've tried Wildflower and liked it, so we'll probably go back to that one. It's very dark, but stays in longer.

I have been using Special Effects for years. Unfortunately I received a bad bottle that didn't work, but would definitely try again with a fresh bottle.**review changed because Amazon was happy to refund me**

For some reason, the glow doesn't show up in black light idk if it's old or what
