Soppy: A Love Story

Talk about warm and fuzzy! :)
Absolutely LOVE this book! I originally came across it when I saw a couple of the pages posted on Facebook. When I found out there was a whole book, I HAD to order it. My fiancé and I read a little bit each night before bed until we finished it and what a JOY. We smiled, we laughed, we cooed. There were so many pages where we found out pointing at each other and laughing as we related to what was happening.I love Rice's art style: simple (but effective) and CUTE. The black, white, and red color scheme is eye catching and consistent. Even though this book isn't your typical story, where you have to read in order beginning to end and it's all connected, you can still feel the story of their love progress. I'd absolutely welcome a sequel or few if Rice ever wished to share more of her relationship with us!The book itself is very nice quality, too. It's a great small size that fits in the hand nicely. The pages are very strong and thick, which is great for all the re-reads I'll be putting it through! The hard cover is a smooth, satisfying soft touch finish.Soppy is a beautiful, realistic read that I would recommend to any and every couple to share.

A complete delight
Even though I got a chance to read this book in advance of its publication, I'm still bought a copy! This comic book is a compilation of her online series of the same name, about her relationship with fellow comics artist Luke Pearson. I totally love everything Philippa Rice does (MY CARDBOARD LIFE!!!), Soppy especially. I think it's because I relate really strongly. Even though my boyf and I don't cohabitate, he's still a really tall, stubborn artist dude and I am a stubborn lil round lady. There are so many comics that are totally situations I've been in! Like him hugging me to steal my warmth! Or whispering that a particularly hideous monster in a movie is him. Or taking a horrible weird photo of myself and setting it as his phone background. Or playing Carcasonne, which we literally played right before I read the book! This story is about all the lovely little moments that make up a relationship. Not the big dumb romantic stuff, but the little dumb romantic stuff. I loved it.

If this were any more adorable, I wouldn't know what to do...
"Soppy" is the collection of cute, sweet little comics by Philippa Rice. It has only the faintest of plots, but it's not about that. Instead, what this is is more like we're getting 5- or 10-second snapshots of the little moments in life -- the things that matter. There are a ton of stories that focus on the big, romantic, (cliched) gestures. But this is about the reason FOR those big gestures. This is about the moments of finding the most comfortable spooning positions, or about teasing each other about favorite milkshake flavors, or about trading off whose turn it is to order pizza after you both agree that you should cook more.If you're looking for something fluffy and cavity-enducing, look no further.

Soppy is a must-own for me!
This is a fun book. I checked it out three or four times from my public library. I was a bit late on my return with the last borrow, and had to pay late fees. I decided that it was ridiculous not to own my own copy. Rice portrays human relationships so authenticity in this little gem. The book itself is beautiful, on the smaller side and sturdy. It’s a quality book inside and out.

What a sweet little treasure!!
I bought this for my long distance boyfriend who I've loved with every ounce of my heart for the last 3.5 years. While I haven't gotten the chance to read this book yet, I can tell you that this is an absolute treasure. The collection of stories really do capture the meaning of real love, and in my boyfriend's words, "It is cute as f$@k." He even teared up when he saw what was in the Amazon envelope I had mailed to his house. Buy this. It's the perfect gift for your better half. :D

Love the author and the book!
Such a cutesy book. My S.O and I read it at a library and enjoyed it so much. This was just an extra present I threw in for Christmas. She loved it!If you don't know if you want the book just look up the comics online. I bought it for the above reasons, and to support the artist. I also do think it is fun to have these books on the coffee table for guests to look at if they are bored.

This book full of adorable animations was a great gift
I bought this book as a gift for my significant other and she absolutely loved it. We went through it page by page looking at the sweet animations and pointing out situations that we could relate to. Definitely a very thoughtful gift for the one you love, I don't think you will be disappointed.

AH! Amazing! <3
The illustrations look like me and my boyfriend, the book is smaller then I thought it was which makes it better as its super cute, I'd say A5 (??) I had a little read before I got it him for christmas, he loved it as much as I did and a lot of the illustration really looked like things we'd done and things we'd say. Although, if you're single this is still lovely. Printed perfectly, everything perfect and so cute! I might buy one for myself.

Easy to relate to and sweet.
I gave it to my other half as a valentine's day present, as I'd often pointed out Philippa Rice's drawings as being reminiscent of our life together. He's not a soppy person at all but I have discovered it left open on his desk on various occasions so I think it's safe to say it's won him over. I like how it tells the story of a relationship through simple moments, without needing to use a complicated story line. It's all very easy to relate to and sweet.

Precious and Personal.
Soppy is a precious graphic novel that is warm and accessible. Rice illustrates her relationships but when I read it I see imagery from my own. The book is little in size but big in heart. The red white and black illustrations were sweet on each page. Even the scenes disconnected from my own relationship were still very sweet to read and see.
