Received this in good time, and it felt solid and good value for money. Unfortunately once I plugged it in and tried to use it, it was a different story. The website says 'Please make sure your electronic device has a program" Media Player" - in fact what they meant by that is that you need to install VLC Media player, which is clear from the leaflet which comes with it. Other DVD Software can't play DVD's from it - or at least I couldn't get my other media players to do so. Using VLC player it took ages to actually recognise the DVD in the tray and even longer to actually load the DVD for me to play it. So I am sending it back for a refund as not any use for its intended purpose

I bought it so that my daughter could install some disk based games on her laptop. I tried the drive on three different PC's (one Windows 10 and two Windows 7) and it didn't work on any of them.One wouldn't recognise the drive at all and the other two recognised it, but wouldn't read any disks that were put into it.The manufacturer recommends that you download some third party software, but it didn't work with that either.This really should just work out of the box. It's the only item I've ever returned to Amazon.

It worked straight out of the box. Mac computer recognised it, disc played. I haven’t used it to burn a disc yet but can’t image why it wouldn’t as it has done all else on the list.

I was very impressed with this, I hadn't had an external drive before, but decided on this one so I can back up my PC regulary. It was so easy to set up. It reads fast and uploads data onto it in good time. It will be so much easier now to back up my stuff. Also it is lightweight and quiet when in use.

This is a great little cd/dvd writer, it's extremely light and works straight out of the box with no software to install; plug it in to any usb port, your machine will detect it and it's ready to go. Burning speeds are comparable with any other external writer and works perfectly. I can recommend this product to anybody looking for a cheap, reliable cd/dvd writer.

This drive saved my life... or I should say my files! I have cleared my internal drives of all my important work, so very pleased with this purchase. It is easy to use and very quiet and quick. I don't use it often only when I am working on important files that need a duplicate. I would recommend to anyone needing a portable external drive. Delivery was prompt. Thank you.

A laptop without a DVD R/W? A stupid idea. trying to install a fresh O.S. into a friends machine via a flash drive was proving impossible, if only I had an external DVD R/W.....So twenty quid and next day delivery... It worked, machine recognised it instantly, loaded an O.S. onto HDD very quickly, nice cable storage. Would recommend.

Brought at Christmas to attach to laptop, try to get it to work but hasn’t worked at all switches on fine but doesn’t play any of the CDs because it doesn’t recognise the format is unable to use for games. Very disappointed would like to return back as could be faulty. Clearer description required for uses.
