Bracht Round Burnisher

This is a little shorter than some burnishers. I like that because I don't like carrying unnecessarily large or heavy tools.Some find the short length more difficult or even dangerous to use, as there is less margin or error / safety. It's easy to slash your hand on a scraper edge as you burnish. That's why some expensive burnishers come with hand-guards, and I think that is a good idea. However, I refuse to pay extra for a piece of machined brass. Instead, I just cut a chunk of wood or leather, put a hole in it, and slip it on the shaft. I prefer the leather-guard because I can make it vary large to protect my entire hand, yet it folds-up compactly when I put it back in the box.The only thing I didn't like about this burnisher was the handle, but that was easy to fix too.This tool does its job well and is fairly priced. You can modify it (like any tool) to suit your needs and taste.What more do you want?
