2-1/2" Gold Roman Clock Insert

Let's face it: Such clock inserts are made in Asia and will not function forever. Nonetheless, this seems to prove better of better quality than the original. The original setting is reminiscent of a bronze diving helmet (nautical theme): Thus the original clock insert had a nautical-themed face. The "helmet" resides in the main bath. The original insert's clock face consisted of paper, so it "buckled"--interfering with the hands--even to the point of slowing or halting the movement and perhaps killing the insert. This uses an N-type battery--an odd and more expensive type. N likely proves of higher quality than AAA. The insert keeps very accurate time. The face appears to be well coated/painted: Thus, it likely won't buckle in the same manner as the OEM insert--given the difficult bath environment.I dock a star, given the general quality of clock inserts from the PRC. (This model perhaps is of somewhat higher quality than OEM inserts): Also, (and, very naturally) I can't obtain an insert with a nautical themed face--I'm certain that many other customers (predominately female here) would appreciate that--some minuscule concern for style and artistic variety! (Such concerns work against mass-fabrication and costs: Nevertheless, providing that well would result in resounding consumer applause!) The somewhat increased difficulty and expense of obtaining N batteries is a factor, as well (it should be AA, if at all possible). A few inserts use button batteries.The original insert did last several years, so perhaps I'm overly harsh: Stupidly and originally, I didn't realize that the clock face consisted of printed paper: Long ago, that face might instead have consisted of painted-metal. (The PRC seems to prove expert at making such items cheaply--nonetheless, such items do appear to prove good enough to "trick" and satisfy consumers completely (and, initially)--OK, we get it!) At least inset replacement proves more easily available--in many sizes, types, and in some variety--it appears that one is far more likely to obtain the decent fit and appearance which they need online, than in craft stores--thanks yet again, Amazon!

I purchased this insert because it looks so close to the clock that I have. It was smaller than my crystal casing measurements. I added some installation around it and it is holding the clock insert in place. Just a small piece is all that is needed to keep it in place. I place the installation so it can't be seen. I was happy to find this insert so that I would not have to throw a beautiful crystal casing out.

Stopped working completely fter a few months. Waste of money.

IT WAS VERY GOOD LOOKING BUT STOPPED WORKING FOR SOME TIME.WHILE SHOPPING ON AMAZON, I FOUND A COMPANY THAT SELLS THE "MOVEMENT (CLOCK)" TO REPLACE THE OLD WITH A NEW.I CALLED THE COMPANY TO ENSURE WHAT I WAS ORDERING AND IT IS FANTASTIC TO TALK TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING WHO NOT ONLY LISTENS AND UNDERSTANDS, BUT PROVIDES EASY INSTRUCTION AND ASSURES YOU THAT INSTALLING THE REPLACEMENT PART WILL BE EASY. THEY EVEN OFFERED TO GIVE ME "OVER-THE-PHONE" INSTRUCTION IF I NEEDED IT AFTER THE PART ARRIVED. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER FOCUS 100%!!SIMPLE ORDER, FAST DEPENDABLE DELIVERY AND BOOM I HAD THE KIT. I am extremely disappointed with this product. The reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because it fits perfectly in the crystal glass case that a very good friend gave me. The original clock after 20 years stopped working. This clock was exactly like the original clock and fit perfectly in the crystal case. I was so excited when it was a perfect fit. The clock sits on the vanity in the master bath onsuite so I can monitor the time while getting dress. THE CLOCK DOESN’T KEEP TIME, DEFEATING THE PURPOSE FOR HAVING IT! At first I thought maybe it was the battery that came with the clock, so I replaced it with a new battery the same problem existed. It is not good enough to look pretty, it needs to be functional as well.

Works great. Does not come with a battery but believe that was mentioned in the description. It is in a car and surprisingly holds up well in California heat.

Reasonably well-made. Looks good but the 2 1/2" dimension is for the outside bezel, not the size of the hole it fits. This should have been clearer in the product description. Especially for an inset clock. Mine ended up in the trash.

works well as a replacement in Portmeiron clock frame but it just a little too small in diameter, so I put a rubber band around it and it works very well and the band is not visable.
