Failed in Crash (Updated Review)
UPDATE AS OF 5.13:17My previous rating has changed to one star. My dog and I were in a severe accident and this seatbelt did not hold up. The strap fully extended and the metal clip released from the seatbelt housing. This does not work for a seventy pound dog when it really matters.I would not recommend this product for a larger breed.Overall:I had bought this for my 70 pound Lab mix. He is a service dog and I wanted something to secure him in the backseat of my extended cab truck. He had a terrible habit of walking around the back & standing while I drove.Pros:When I ask him to lie down & have the seat belt as short as it'll go it works perfectly to keep him in a lying position and safe while wearing a harness.Cons:The fabric this is made from isn't what I'd label sturdy for dog use. While I don't think it'll break from a sudden stop, if your dog is a chewer he or she would chew threw it very quickly. Or, a chewer could damage the integrity of the seat belt and a sudden stop could cause the seat belt to snap.Cautionary Advice:This seat belt shouldn't be used with a collar or secured to your dog's neck or face in anyway while in a moving vehicle. A sudden stop could send your dog flying and possible injure or even kill your dog from such a sudden impact on the neck. Only use this seat belt with a harness.Would I Buy It Again:NO. See update at the top as to why.

Not impressed
I have two car harnesses with matching belts for my two dogs. One of the harnesses hooks into the seat belt (like this model) while the other fits around the seat belt strap and screws in. I found the seat belt hook much more convenient and was looking for another like the one I have, but without having to purchase the whole harness set.The Sofantex brand is the same design as the one I already have, but the quality is much lower. the nylon strap is much thinner and the stitching is flimsy and not reinforced. In fact, there were multiple snags in the nylon when it arrived, which makes me worry that the whole nylon strip is on the verge of unraveling already. I'm not sure I want to trust my dog's life and car safety to a brand with such shoddy quality control.Bottom line: the design is great, easy to use and practical, but I suggest choosing another brand.

We attach it to the harness at the same time we attach them to their leash and getting ready to go is easy.
Wish there was a little bit shorter tether available but this product holds up well. We have problems with our dogs accidentally stepping on the seat belt release. Still much easier than running a seat belt through their harness loop to buckle them in. We attach it to the harness at the same time we attach them to their leash and getting ready to go is easy.

Good dog car leash, low cost
This is just what I was looking for, a dog car leash that clips into the seat belt clip in the car. It has an adjustable length, but you don't want to adjust too long if it would allow the dog to fall off the seat and get hurt.( REMEMBER TO ONLY USE THESE WITH A DOG HARNESS, NOT A COLLAR!!!!) The clip is the right size for my Wire Fox Terrier, not too large or heavy. This is better then the more expensive leashes that just strap onto the car seatbelt that you clip closed and attach. It was very reasonably priced and does the job.

Really works, but not long enough
The seat belt does what it's supposed to do. I can put my lab in the front seat and not worry about her jumping out the window. However, the belt isn't long enough. She can only sit for a bit and then she has to lay down because it keeps pulling. Other than that, it's great and safety always comes first!

Perfect for our needs... Until it broke.
UPDATE: After almost exactly two months, the plastic slider that adjusted the length crumbled into 4 pieces and the unit fell apart. My dog doesn't lean against the belt, although it is used daily, sometimes 4-6 times a day. I'm not too upset seeing as it was fairly inexpensive, but I wish it would have lasted longer. I don't need to adjust the length too frequently, so I knotted the nylon at my desired length and am using it that way until I (hopefully) find one with a metal slider. It worked great until it broke, and I sure wish it was a more durable product.Original Review:Great - just what we needed. Keeps our dog on the back seat and encourages our pup to sit politely and quietly.

This is all you need at a cheap price. It adjusts in length so my terrier can lie down. I think it would work well for a larger breed too. It seems to be very strong at the attachment to the seat belt. The strap and metal parts are well constructed. I was rear ended six months ago and my puppy was thrown into the floorboard with great force. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt and it taught me a lesson. I will always have him secured and safe when he is riding in the car.

Good security in the car for your dog
I use these for transporting dogs from high-kill shelters to no-kill rescues. I like the security they afford by locking into the seat belt receptacle. This not only keeps the dog restricted to a limited area, but it prevents the dogs from trying to climb into the front seat with me, as well.
