Great history of the Coney dogs and excellent photos too.
While the history and the photos are really good, and it's interesting to hear about the families and the Coney dog traditions, I was disappointed in finding out that there was no mention of the "secret ingredients" that go into making the famous dogs. The product description clearly states that the authors uncover the secret ingredients that go into what makes a coney dog what it is. It's one of the main reasons I purchased the book. Sorry folks, no discussion of anything like that except the obvious...a hot dog, a bun, the chili sauce, and the mustard/onion combo...which isn't the "secret".

For Coney Lovers!
A must have for Coney fanatics like me. The history of dozens of Detroit (and outlying) Coney Islands, with info on buns, hot dogs, sauce, and most importantly the families that have run these eateries for generations.

Not just a hot dog with chili.
I grew up in the Detroit area and took Coneys for granted. When I moved out of the metro area I didn't realize that not everyone in Michigan knew how to make a real coney. This book showed me that this all american meal has a real rich history, with roots deep in our stomachs! The pictures and the research made me sentimental...and hungry!

Detroit Coney Island Hot Dogs
Well written, nicely photographed history of the iconic Detroit hot dog and how it became so popular in the Motor City. Includes reviews and biographies of the owners who made coney islands a staple of Detroit cuisine. Also looks at the places throughout Michigan that carry on the tradition.

Great coverage and recall of things Detroit
Great coverage and recall of things Detroit. We all (6 of us) lived there for 25 years so did enjoy the history and memories. Book is in great condition, arrived promptly. Thank you.

Nice book, but not a single recipe inside
Nicely, written, produced, and photographed book, but nary a recipe inside. A lot of work went into creating the book, but without recipes, tips, or tricks of the trade, it's a nice travel guide and should not be considered a cookbook.

Great pice of American History.
A fantasic overview of a piece of American history in the Detroit Michigan area. I remember some of these coney island when I was drafted into the army in 1966 as I was being processed into service.
