Clever design, but weak and flimsy.
I bought a couple of these units on Woot, the bargain basement outlet of Amazon. They were cheaper there. These are cleverly designed, allowing a lot of flexibility in how you choose to put them together. You can configure them to accommodate sink pipes, traps, disposals, stove vents, and all kinds of obstructions inside your cabinet. Be aware, though, they are rather light and flimsy. Probably, the cross slats could be glued in place to gain greater structural integrity. But still, the weak points are where the hollow horizontal tubes screw into the vertical supporting ends. Under normal usage, with only a few dish detergent containers, scrub pads, and folded dish rags resting on the shelves, and with both of the vertical supporting ends anchored against your interior cabinet walls, that should present no problem at all. However, misfortune befell one of my units. I had it erected, resting on a table, temporarily storing a few utility bills and items of junk mail, awaiting my installing the unit in my sink cabinet. For reasons known best to the culpable animal, our six pound household kitten/cat hopped up on the table and tried to lounge on the top tier of the shelf unit. FAIL!!! The unit collapsed, dumping the cat, the shelf contents, and multiple pieces of the shelf to the floor. The cat scampered off unscathed. But the shelving unit was a mess. Of course, the cross slats were intact, ready to be refitted on the horizontal tubes. But three of the four tubes had snapped off near their ends. Only one of the tubes survived intact. As I surveyed the damages, I concluded the thing might be glued back together, perhaps with wooden dowels glued inside the tube ends for reinforcement, and perhaps with tape windings over the glued bonds. I have yet to conclude, though, whether such a project would be worthy of a couple hours of my time fussing with it. Cats have no shame. And these shelves have no resilience against pouncing felines.
