The edges are too dull to cut through bread. I had to get a knife to trace around cutter. It doesn't work well with anything but plain ol' white or wheat bread. Any seeds or darkening of bread disguise the face. The mouth does not stencil onto bread. I imagine it would work better if you plan to cut out the eyes, mouth and smile with a knife or spoon - or add in colors, like the picture shows, but as-is, it just doesn't cut it (literally and figuratively.)

This cutter is great for lunch for my toddlers. No it doesn't look as much like a bear as in the pic but it is cute and my kids love it. Great way too take off the crust while making it fun. Don't expect a miracle and a true bear like some reviewers. But for the price -it was exactly like I expected. Some reviewers have mentioned the bread has to be really soft to seal, but I have not really experienced that. One tip though is that you need to put the toppings in the middle so the outside is only bread if you want it to seal. If I get the meat/cheese to close to the outside then I have issues. It works best for me with PB and J.
