Monster Hunter Legion: Monster Hunter, Book 4

Guns, Babes and Monster Hunting, What More do You Want?
I'll start out by saying that I devoured this book. The premise is ridiculous in the most awesome way possible: the first annual Monster Hunter convention is scheduled with monster hunters from all over the world attending. Owen Pitt's crew is there along with other MHI from across the country as well as representatives from the MCB. Then shit hits the fan and we have a crazy monster on the loose. Now, I won't go into details because you really should experience this without knowing anything prior.Let's start with the good. Pretty much every character is distinct and interesting with their own personalities and motivations. The fact that Correia can create so many characters without them feeling like clones is a testament to his abilities as a writer. In my review of the previous book, Monster Hunter Alpha, I complained that the female characters are all drawn from the same butt-kicking-action-girl cloth with little to differentiate them. I'll have to retract that. They may all be butt-kicking-action-girls but the female characters in this series really do have distinct personalities with tremendous depth. Holly Newcastle is a perfect example. She may come off as your typical stripper-turned-killer cliche but she really does come into her own as the series progresses, especially in this book. Correia really can do characters. The plot is ridiculous, awesome fun that never lets up until the very end. There are twists and turns that are genuinely surprising without feeling like cheats. In addition, Correia pulls together a number of threads from previous novels and connects them in interesting ways. Again, I can't say too much without giving things away. Though I will say that dragons make an appearance which isn't really a spoiler because it's there on the cover. Suffice to say that the plot goes in interesting directions while giving juicy hints of the cosmic forces manipulating things like pieces on a chessboard. In the end, Correia's Monster Hunter series continues to impress. Correia has likely topped his previous MHI books with Monster Hunter Legion. The action is great. The mysteries are tantalizing and the characters fun. What more could you possibly want from a book series about private companies hunting monsters?5 out of 5 stars.

Daaaaang, upping the ante, biggering the game
Whew, Mr Correia found his groove and it's a hella exciting ride.I was a little trepidatious at the start, because while the first two books are very exciting engrossing stories, there was a minor aspect of the writing that bothered me, which was not present in the third book. The third book was also a different point of view, and so I had a small worry that by going back to Pitts POV he might go back to having the weird abrupt transitions.... But to my delight this book was smooth as silk, or maybe ectoplasmic nightmare blood slime, with increased action, more characters good and bad, getting to see some in a new light, improved character depth all around which is subliminally what takes a story from merely good to great (whew, well done with the feels), and of course, more monsters 😁.I Love creatures & monsters, so of course something called Monster Hunters caught my attention. And boy has Correia rewarded us, with sprinklings of regular monster tropes ( many hilariously tweaked & mishmashed with various subcultures) , double handfuls of rare and new creatures & horrors, and giant big bads starting in the very first book (seriously, that kind of major world-ending other-world old one is generally the big bad of the whole shebang that the series leads up to.... But LC epically kicks off to outer space , and luckily for us everything since has not let down. ) good times. thank you, Mr Correia, may you have many more stories for us all.

I LOVE these books. So much fun, action, adventure, and GREAT characters! This one was non-stop action, and so I enjoyed every page.

A great entry in this urban fantasy series
Is this Great Literature? No. But it is perfect for what it is: urban-fantasy pulp fiction. In this book, Sin City lives up to its name as nightmares become real. There is lots of fighting and plenty of mayhem. Part of why I love the series is that it is funny, but it also offers up gems such as "Evil can kill you, break your body, and sometimes it can even break your mind, but only you can break your spirit."This is the fourth book in the series; start at the beginning if you like this type of rough-and-tumble, gritty urban fantasy.

Excellent addition
I have to admit sometimes when a storyline gets extreme it becomes farcical or ridiculous. But the author of this series has a way of pulling you in and keeping you with him the whole time, so that even when (spoiler alert) someone’s facing down a gigantic dragon in the middle of the Las Vegas strip, you can’t help but route for the good guys. Character development was great, and it was good to have a storyline with ON leading again. The Earl Shackleford book was good, and it was a smooth transition to it and back to this one for the main storyline. Many characters return, and a lot of them expand their own individual story arcs. You got to learn about their past as well as what to expect in the future. The author has really honed his craft and it shows in this book.

Book 4 and I'm still going strong!
I've always wanted to meet some of these "monsters", although in my world, they would be just a "being" until proven to be a monster. I still love the books and the story lines. Larry Correia had done a create job in keeping all the details straight and the running story and timelines. I have read so many other series where they mess up the running details and time lines. In these books, you could use a calendar and have them come out just as you'd expect when they pop off with a date or month. These are the best escape from reality. I plan on listening to them again and again. The length makes it really nice because I can sit back and enjoy, not be to disappointed because its over just as I'm getting comfortable and drawn in. Some audios are just too short. These are just nice and long.

Another fantastic entry in the Monster Hunter series!
Huge fan of Mr. Correia and Monster Hunter International. This 4th book is a blast, with some seriously impressive set pieces. Loved every second of it.

Fast paced, twisted and funny as all get out
I have read all of this series up to this on. Heading for the next in the series immediately! Great mix of humour and down and dirty violence.

Simpatico e avvincente
