another great cd from one of the best bands!!!!
Another great album from Heidevolk! This cd has been my official soundtrack to my Winter so far! I love all the songs, there catchy and folky! Makes me want to raise a horn of Dutch Lager and dance a jig!!! Great stuff from one of the best bands out there today. Also if you get a chance to see these guys live do so they are great live and just over all great guys!

With a Rebel Yell, Heidevolk make you cry more, more more.
I had never checked out Heidevolk before, but when I saw they did a cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" I was intrigued. I liked it so much I wound up buying the whole album! If you are looking for a band who bring a breath of fresh air to folk metal, then Heidevolk might be what you are looking for. Velua's songs are driven by passionate, harmonized baritone vocals that are so expressive that the fact they are not sung in English doesn't even matter. The songwriting itself is very evocative, conjuring images of men with braided beards and shields slung on their backs, striding across cloud-shrouded mountains. The collection of cover songs that round out the album are worth the price alone. I like their "Rebel Yell" better than the original and their fierce rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" is nothing to sneeze at either. If you are new to Heidevolk like I was, then Velua is a great place to start.

Easily recommended.
The band Heidevolk continues to mature with this album. Some of the tracks are positively enthralling, and evoke images in my mind when I hear them. The musical composition is enough to make every track interesting, even if you're not "in to" the song. Easily recommended.

I was excited about this album, but couldn't sink ...
At first I was a little dismayed, but rest assured this album is within the special group of albums that strive for something different in their musical career and really pull it off. The first listen didn't pull me in, but the 4th did, the best part was I didn't force it or expect it. Different melodies and rhythms really stretch the band, although not as heavy as Batavi, still contains some heavy parts and a bit more passionate singing. The acoustic and choral additions are a plus, adding a texture in folk metal that is uniquely and marvelously them.

Better than the previous album!
A solid release from veteran folk metallers Heidevolk. It's a bit heavier overall than their back catalog, but drawing from their rich Dutch heritage they are able to keep things compelling and cohesive over the course of an hour. If you have any interest in this type of music, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.

Deserves a try.
This is a good album. Heavy typical European folk metal. The only bad thing i can say about it is that is a little bit to long and sometimes the songs sounds similar. But regardless i do enjoy it. I have two more albums from them this one is heavier than both.

Gutes Pagan-Album

Heidevolks Velua ging leider überraschend an mir vorbei. Das Album ist sehr gut gelungen.
