Excellent addition to our library
This is an incredible book to introduce children in an age appropriate way to the realities that families all across the world are facing. The story is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

Exceptional for teaching empathy
I challenge you to read this story to your kids without pausing to cry your eyes out. What a great story and the best way to teach them empathy. Was perfect for the classroom to wrap up Thanksgiving week- all the children were left speechless and thoughtful. What a different perspective for them to think about! It would make a great Christmas gift also.

Humbling
Beautifully illustrated, crisply-written.A must-have for any school library. One thing that could have been easily left out - the name of the country the refugees get relocated to. A little bit of mystery is not such a bad thing.Plus, we Americans like America's greener pasturers to be left to our own lot sometimes. That bit at the end could put some readers out and destroy the purpose of the book - which is to show the girl's delicate friendship and how they manage, even in hard times, to simply survive. All in all, a classic.

Heartwarming and beautifully written
I bought this book for recently arrived refugee girls who understand some English. I read it immediately and had tears in my eyes by the end. The story of the brief encounter of two Afghan girls would become a lasting bond because of a pair of shoes. I expect to sit with my little friends and read it with them.

Wonderful story of a timely subject
How many refugee children in the world today are without access to education in temporary camps or shelters? More than I could imagine most likely. The author presents a desperate situation with kind and loving attention and details. We gave this as a gift to my daughter's Girl Scout troop to recognize World Thinking Day. Raises important subjects for upper elementary students such as casualties of war, equal access to education, fairness, sharing, loss of one's home, and many others.

Moving story and beautiful pictures
I found this book on the 'I am your neighbor' book list. It is a simple story about 2 girls in a refugee camp waiting for resettlement. The book has beautiful illustrations in warm colors. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to help their kids / students to learn more about refugees and their difficult journey to safety.

GREAT LEARNING TOOL
Four Feet, Two Sandals is a wonderful learning tool. I think that our kids (and in this case grandkids) really have no idea how very very blessed we are in this country. I believe it is important for them to understand, as far as possible, that there are kids in the world just like them who lead very different lives. Not only do they not have their own I-Pod and DS, they do not even have their own pair of shoes! Stories such as Four Feet, Two Sandals make them more aware of the big world they live in.

Lesson on gratitude, love and selflessness
Nice illustration. This is a very simple and easy to read children's book that tells the moving story of two young girls living in the same refugee camp but forced to come to terms with a different fate. It is deeply touching.I find that there are many lessons that can be drawn from this story that can encourage young children to understand values that are hard to teach in this current landscape of technology and abundance.

Aimed at a Upper Elementary audience
This book was very helpful in building understanding of the effects of war. I used it as an introduction to the study of The Breadwinner, by Debra Ellis.

Beautifully written!
A lovely book which arouses many emotions whilst reading, but lead us to have many discussions on the top of refugees. It has an informative story which promotes good qualities such as sharing and empathy. It will hopefully assist in promting good character in children by showing them the deep concern one friend has for another.
