Is it shipped wrapped in plastic to protect the surface from being scratched during shipping?

When it leaves our warehouse it's in a plastic sleeve AND a cardboard shipping tube. Amazon should be shipping them out as received. We put a not on them telling Amazon not to open the shipping tubes.

Can a gerbil fit through 1 or 1 1/2 inch of these? Asking for a friend...
