Usually Docusate in stool softeners comes in the form of sodium derivative. When your body needs more calcium (older people), and not sodium (hypertension), this is more desirable. Price is right too.

Does what it is supposed to do..I recently found another product that has pretty much negated the use of this one so far which I also purchased on Amazon, "Digestive Advantage Probiotics - Constipation Formula Probiotic Capsules, 30 Count". I've only been using them 10 days, and have had a bm (or more) every day except 2.Glad to have the stool softeners on hand, though, just in case the probiotic formula quits working.Nuff said. :)

This is the best product out there. Much better than ducosate sodium which is what is sold in most of the stores. The sodium version caused me to have upset stomachs but the calcium version does not. I checked with my doctor and he also recommends it and there have been no long term side effects.

Works much better than docusate sodium, maybe because it contains 240 mg. of its active ingredient, compared to docusate sodium, which only contains 200 mg. of its active ingredient. But still, it works much better for me if I take two capsules twice a day than if I take two capsules only once per day, which is fine with my physician.

Surgeon put me on these in 1986 after colon surgery. Surfak was the name back then.
