Olive Oil Lamp

I personally bought these because I do no like to have electric light going at night...I do not think this is natural to have that much light at midnight (year round). I bought a kerosene lamp a while back but I found that burning kerosene, if burned most of the night, tends to burn my eyes.So I decided to try this product out.First,here is allot more light than I thought there would be...more than a kerosene or candles.Regardless is you want to use this everyday or just have something for when the lights go out, this is what you want to use.Now the bad things.Once you light the wick, you can not adjust the wick without blowing out the lamp first...So if you get it to dim or to bright, you have to blow out the flame, wait for a few minutes (let it cool) and then adjust...So consider this a candle, more than a replacement for a kerosene lamp like I did.Also if the lamp goes out because you didn't notice the oil is running low, it will turn the inside of the lamp black...you will have to wash it (although...it gives it a little character if you leave it a little dirty)Having said this, I think at least a few of these should be in every home.It is better than kerosene because it doesn't burn the eyes like lighting kerosene does, on top of that, almost every household has some type of cooking oil laying around.It is better than candles because of the mess, how easy it is go catch other things on fire....and most of the time, candles can go out with a quick breeze (when you don't want them to)

My wife and I make love by candle light and appreciate the ambience this lamp provides. The reason for withholding a star is because of the jar styling. Major disappointment however, we have transitioned into a more fashionable jar and had continued to enjoy the high quality core. Not too shabby.

Really gives a good strong flame and is super easy to use.It will, however, heat-up quite a bit and produce some smoke if you don't trim the wick.

Exactly what we ordered. It's quite small, so make sure you've taken the measurements into account.We like the screw on lid -it was easy to bring camping with us and didn't have to worry about the oil spilling. Hint: coconut oil solidifies at room temp but burns beautifully when heated. So there was less of a chance for it to leak that way.

Very simple but nice to have a worth the money. If there was an extended power outage, you can use so many things to fuel this candle, which is awesome.
