The most compelling character is the most underused
I of course refer to Tiloshar, the vampire queen of The Black Tear. She starts off as little more than a sexy dark lady, in the same vein as Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins. She's fun, sure, and she's kinky, but there's not a whole lot to her. Then you get through and learn all this stuff about her and... Whoa. The author really makes you feel for her, how she's been denied her happiness at every turn. She's an immortal vampire powered by blood and sex, with a killer bod and all kinds of magic powers, and she's still a tragic character. Goes to show what matters most in life, you know?Which is why it's a shame that we spend most of the book elsewhere. The actual adventure is little more than a glorified errand, where the character's emotional investment isn't nearly as strong as in Books 1 and 3. Here, it's a business deal: Rothan needs something, Tiloshar needs something, and the emotional resonance of Tiloshar's tragedy doesn't get invoked until AFTER the journey is complete. No amount of succubi or harpy people or Outland-inspired planes could make the middle feel less hollow.Sure, the other characters have goals, investment, backgrounds, all that jazz, but they aren't nearly as engrossing or engaging as Tiloshar. If Frazetta found a way to involve her more in this story, or devoted an equal amount of effort into making the rest of the cast as sympathetic, this could've earned 5 stars. Alas, it's a 3-star adventure with a 5-star supporting role.

Swords, Axes and Sorcery...and adult stuff.
This was number 2 in the Wolfblade series. Once again Mr Frazetta does an excellent job. I don't read books to be a critic. After all, a critic is nothing but man who is jealous that he is incapable of doing the same thing, yet, somehow thinks he can talk about it. Having said that, I read books to be entertained and the Wolfblade series is definitely entertaining. The floating island concept is pretty cool but I liked the white tear, black tear concept also. Sure hope Rothan finds a way to hook up with his 2 girls again and find a way back to black tear. The adult stuff is erotic but certainly not overwhelmingly a part of the novel. I like the characters and I'm worried someone's gonna die. Sure hope not. I eagerly await the 3rd, 4th etc

Almost better then book 1
Another fun instalment. Where the first was more traditional gladiator bombing fair. This one is more horror fantastical. Jumping into book 3 immediately

Great 2nd book!
Great read! Can not wait to read the third book. I like the growth of the MC and the direction this story going.

Meh
The plot was not as engaging as the first book. The MC is literally given several OP magic items this time around. And once again, there is little to no consistency between the major battles. At one point, the MC had most of his bones broken and was glad because the pain overwhelmed him. Then he immediately got up and charged his attacker... with his broken bones. After every conflict, even if he claims to be grievously wounded, he just walks off and the tale continues as if he were completely fine and ready for the next encounter.Oddly, the setup for book 3 sounds more interesting (and more in line with book 1).

Great
So I accidentally read this book without reading the firstSo note 1- you can totally read it without having read the first oneI enjoy that this book is a self contained story that alludes to a world and battles beyond it. There is a problem introduced that is actually solved. Though greater issues are yet to comeI feel like this is a great foundation book, we meet knew people who will certainly have a part to play in the books to come. Can’t wait

Surprised
I was genuinely surprised and delighted that I took a chance on the second book of this Series. I read the first book and wasn't impressed with it at all. But this one was just so enjoyable, I thought that the characters were much more fleshed out and seemed like the storyline is becoming more thought out. So keep up the Good work, Marco.

Needs improvement
The fake archaic dialogue is not a plus. Stop it and use normal vernacular. Also vampires and succubus love interests in the same book? That's just lazy. However the action is good and the characters are all fine for the most part. Also the next book seems a lot more interesting than this one.
