Sturdy & washable
We are currently using the mat with sawdust pellets and still experiencing some mess but appreciate it's listed as 'cat litter'. Also, our elderly cat has missed the tray & it's hard cleaning faeces out of the plastic grilles but expect that's what makes it good at catching cat litter
