Western Guide to Feng Shui

I first bought this book 25 or 30 years ago when i got my first apartment. It saw me through my next move and my most recent one. I bought this new one for my sister.This is the best feng shui book ever! It’s really easy to follow unlike some of the feng shui books that are way too technical. Also this isn’t a really airy-fairy book either. This gives the basics then shows you exactly what should go where to get the most balance, prosperity, love, etc. and what to do to fix missing areas. It’s awesome! Get this book! You will be glad you did.

I found this book very helpful. It was originally reviewed by a student of mine for a college class which led me to buy Collins' other book "Feng Shui Room by Room". I like the other book even better (I would give it 5 stars). These books bring the concepts into focus for use in a western setting. I transformed two major parts of my house within the first week and it was life changing. In fact I was able to make some powerful changes the first night. Also I didn't spend a lot of money but rather used things I already owned and loved that were either in storage or in the wrong place. I found myself loving my house for the first time in many years instead of constantly thinking about moving.

I really enjoyed "The Western Guide to Feng Shui" by Terah Collins. I am new to the Feng Shui idea and have only dabbled in it from what I have read online. Despite all the information online that I had read, I found this book to be incredibly informative.Using the Bagua Map it explains in detail what each area of the house, yard, or even work space represent. I especially like the multiple examples she provides for each area. In every story she described the issue, how to address it, what was done to fix it and the results!One thing I enjoyed a lot is she also explains how you can use what you have around the house so you don't have to go out and spend a fortune on Feng Shuiing your life!I definitely recommend this book if you are interested in starting Feng Shui or just want a handy guide nearby. I've been reading and working with this book for a couple months as I complete furnishing a new apartment. I do subscribe to the theories of chi and how it affects health and well being; this book offers a through starting point for making your surroundings work for and with you. I would recommend to anyone who wants to start working with Feng Shui because it offers everything you need to know without becoming a Feng Shui master yourself.

I've been looking for books on Western Feng Shui and found that this book, The Western Guide to Feng Shui, and a second by the same author, The Western Guide to Feng Shui Room by Room, to be enormously helpful. Both explain the Western approach to feng shui and give details that will help the reader understand and apply this feng shui approach to the home, office, surroundings, etc.A word about this feng shui: it is NOT your grandmother's feng shui! If you're looking for the traditional schools of feng shui, you need to look elsewhere. But if you're looking for the approach that blends traditional and western ideas in an easy-to-read and understand way, both these books will help you.

I've always been a little apprehensive about Feng Shui. It seemed so complicated. Way to go, Terah Collins! It was such an EASY read. I finished the whole book quickly. You did an amazing job of getting rid of all the superstitions and streamline the art to an easy, doable task. I ordered the Room by Room one as soon as I finished. It answered all the questions that came up in the first book. Had they been included in that one, it might have been tedious. She left me wanting to know more!

I have had a hard copy of this book for years and have found it helpful and easy to use in our modern world. I have recently bought the Kindle version so I could have it with me all the time as a reference.

Wow how nice to get such great information that could change the way you live....& your well-being.Love Feng-Shui..it is so calming.Didn't think that changing a few things around you make such a difference,Yes, nature is calming. Placement of furniture, buildings, plants, water, stone or brick, even metal all affect our psyche. I always keep this concept in the back of my mind in making alot of decisions.I refer to this guide quite often.Thanks.
