Manual of Parrot Behavior

I've been struggling to find a good and comprehensive source on parrot behaviour for a long time, but this book is everything I'd been hoping to find. The chapters cover a wide range of topics including social behaviour, chick development, and many common behavioural issues. Everyone will find something of use in here. The information is very well presented and easy to understand while at the same time covering complex issues. Honestly can't recommend it enough!

Comprehensive work, well referenced scientific book.

I bought this book with some trepidation as it comes with quite a price tag, however I have not been disappointed. The contents are a collection of very nicely written articles pertaining to the effects of captivity on parrot behaviour and more. I really got this as an aid to an important assignment, but now I have it I feel it will be of use to me for years to come.This is no simple 'pet owners guide', however, so if that's what you are looking for you may be better off looking at stuff published by either Barron's or T.F.H - personally I don't think those types of books are up to much but they may be more appropriate if you are looking for care guides or similar. The Manual of Parrot Behaviour is probably better suited to students or other academics, veterinarians and serious bird keepers...

Every parrot caregiver should have this book and study Chapter 10.

Best book on parrot behavior I have read. As parrot owners, we are constantly being challenged by our pets. This book reinforces your experiences with logical and well thought-out explanations as to why parrots react and behave the way they do. Would highly recommend to anyone who owns (or is thinking of acquiring) a parrot, since they require far more attention than more conventional pets (such as dogs and cats).

Not what I thought and wasn't helpful to me, just a regular pet owner and the information I could have used, is aviable for free on Internet. The book was very costly and of no use to me

I am a huge parrot lover and love learning about them especially their behavior. Because parrots are so intelligent, they are complex and it is so important to learn about them in order to have a long happy life with your feathered kids.My bird is well behaved and easy going so not that I had to buy this book for resolve issues, but its just fun and interesting to learn about parrots. I am sure this will come in handy when or if I have any questions about my bird's behavior.

I was unable to engross myself in the contents of this book. I couldn't find any really rewarding information in it.
