how many pieces are in this kit. what is average construct time?

Exact number of pieces, I can't remember, but it wasn't any more than any other small model. Construction time will certainly vary by the person and the amount of time you invest in painting, and weathering the model. Probably a few hours

No it does not light up. It would be cool though if you put those tiny lights inside. The building is one of my favorites. The bucket on the sign adds that special touch.

Mine did not have a phone booth. Plus I found extra pieces that were not in the instructions. Question is why?

I've found that that spruces with unknown parts are for other kits that use some of the parts on your spruce. I throw them into a box to be used in kit bashing. I built that kit and found that soom of the parts didn't fit, so I used other parts

Will this be a good size for Hot Wheel cars

HO scale = 1/87 scale , Hot Wheels cars = 1/64 scale. Hot Wheels cars are slightly larger to match up with any HO scale model.

Nice addition to the model railroad

Took some painting and adding some HO sized figures, it came out great. Plans were easy to follow and easy to assemble. This is not for little kids. This is a grown-up project.

Another Great Addition

Well made,not much of a problem to assemble. Did a little color changing and some weathering. Placing some figures and a vehicle or two and it looks great. Note! you may want to lose the base and add more realism to your layout. Overall a really nice model kit.
