Burning Woman

I really wanted to love this book but it’s full of misleading information that could have been avoided by a simple google check. She mentioned an African Yoruba orisha *Oshun* as a dark goddess. This is a terrible injury and a grave insult. It shows that she did not take the time and or care to learn about the Orishas before injecting them into her book. It seems as if it was used as a cheap trick to appear pretentiously inclusive.

This book has ushered me into a new spiritual journey. It was right on time. I have to admit, I was pissed because I felt that this book took me on a personal journey that I wasn't ready for, but I made it. It has already been life changing and I've had the opportunity to implement this wisdom in my life.Lucy's words transcend time, race, age, and any other worldly construct. It brought me into a new understanding of myself and my sisters.Every Goddess should read this book.

When PINK! famously posted a page from this book to her Instagram account, millions of women were riveted to the words on that page, myself included. I HAD TO HAVE the book because I could see Lucy Pearce has written a woman's manifesto that unflinchingly states what it is like to be a woman on earth at this moment in time and how our experiences link with women across history. In a word: IT'S NOT YOU!!! You're not crazy, 'too much,' 'sick,' 'not enough,' or any other derogative thing you've ever been called or treated as. It's not YOU; it's a culture which loathes the bodies, minds, brains, spirits, thoughts, achievements, (what have I missed) of women and girls. This is a brilliant book which I think will become a staple of every woman who remembers her first experience with the original, "Our Bodies, Ourselves." It's simply brilliant and you should absolutely buy it and read it again and again. Now I know why PINK! had to put those pages on her Insta. This book fairly burns in your hands - it's that inspirational.

If you weren't on Fire before reading this book, it will certainly light you up! I wish I could rate this a 10 Star, I love this book so much I have it on my Kindles and the paper copy!DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE HAPPILY STUCK IN A PASSIVE RUT! This book will change you!I felt like a Phoenix rising as I read this book!Get the point? I cannot say enough good about this book!It's an amazing, shake loose the stagnant and step into power journey, don't take my word for it, read it for yourself! Oh and the Facebook group helps to fan the flames!

This book became a huge disappointment for me. I had been waiting for this book because the name of it, the cover really appealed to me. Previous reviews also were promising. And what did I get? The author is using concepts of jungian psychology without even understanding them. Just this simple fact made me doubt of almost everything she was saying. Maybe there're good thoughts but it was really difficult for me to notice them among misleading concepts and author's anger to patriarchal power.

I've given this book as gifts, and then keep buying it for myself, because I keep giving it away, but this is a book you come back to. YOU CAN NOT DO ALL OF THE ACTIVITIES IN THE BOOK THE FIRST TIME AROUND. Just give yourself the grace, but this book BLEW MY MIND AND MY LIFE wide open, and helped me grow and discover new things I had never thought about. Seriously. Must Must read. I'm a Christian, and love God and this book was still very accessible, you can take what you like, and leave what doesn't serve you. This is a big perspective shifting book, and it brings a lot of clarity. Be ready. It's good, but it's intense. You also need this in paper form, between the activities and questions, you need to have a pen and highlighter ready. It's that kind of book. Also bring the tissues and chocolate. It's a lot of emotions you'll process. ALSO, if you like this YOU MUST READ MOON TIME BY LUCY PEARCE. EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO READ THAT BOOK. I adore Lucy's Work. So ya'll. Get this book in your checkout asap. Good luck, and God speed, burn well, burn sustainably, and enjoy your dance in the woods.

A truly uplifting book through which women can learn to re-claim their power. I read this book after "The Handmaid's Tale", which left me fearful and for that, it was so timely. I appreciated the references provided and the journal prompts. Also, the kind of book you want to highlight every word and page and keep them as daily reminders of how to tap into and use your power to renew and heal yourself and others. A book I will go back to again and again.

I'm a man who works with women who come to me to deal with trauma, self healing issues through spirituality, energy healing, shamanism. My role is to empower them so I do seek out and read books that do just that, that I can then recommend to my clients.This book has not done that. In saying that I didn't finish it, I returned for a refund as I saw early on that the the author was coming from a place where all women are victims of the patriarchy. As long as any woman sees herself as a victim, empowerment is a long way off. I can't be critical of the author, she is on her journey to liberation, but she's not there yet.Early on the author riles against the patriarchy, complains that most nudes in an art gallery are female and complains that more women are not politicians or corporate leaders. The women who come to me seek to embrace their feminine spirit, the warrior strength and the play and liberation of being a woman, the colour and flair that masculine energy does not have. My point is they do not want to indulge in masculine roles such as working 100 hours per week in dog eat dog brutal corporate boardrooms, or among the corruption and power seeking of politicians, and I say good for them. Perhaps the reason less women hold roles in big business and politics is because they have more common sense, their own mental and spiritual health, their families are more important than power and wealth. The idea that all women do seek corporate or political power is what has run modern feminism into the ground and why many women are distancing themselves from it.If you think the world is a mess and you need to save it (projection), probably from men, this book is for you.If you're seeking to move into your joy, play, wild power, sexual liberation, flow of love, even to explore the wild rage of Kali or the darkness of the old crone woman within, there are better authors out there who have transcended powerlessness.

This book is revolutionary to say the least. I have broke out into tears so many times during this read simply because I finally feel so understood, after each time I felt lighter and a sense of clarity. I'm so greatful Lucy wrote this book. I want to buy a copy for every female in this world and make it manditory to study in schools. Unbelievably informative about yourself as a woman, and women all over the world and makes you look at history, yourself and modern life in such a complex way yet sooo easy to read. Lucy has a gift when it comes to writing and constantly has you in a trance, reluctant to come up for air and put her book down. This book will make you mad, make you relieved and then make you mad again. The fire inside my soul was roaring throughout this whole book. If your not ready for change and for your life as a woman to be turned completely upside-down and put onto the right path and tear down every patriarchal structure around you.. do not read this book. But if there is something in your life that doesn't really make sense, or you feel like there is something missing which you can't really put your finger on, get this. Or if you have a vagina, BUY THIS. I would also strongly reccomend for men with daughters or who are looking to understand their connection to the world and women deeper, I think this is just as important for you to read and understand as it is for women. Your life will change. Thank you infinite times Lucy.

I loved every page of this book. I especially appreciated how inclusive the author is and her acknowledgement of her own lens as a cis-hetero-woman. Things that talk about the Feminine can sometimes feel inaccessible to me (as I don't present as particularly 'feminine' in my life) but Lucy's writing speaks to the core of what it is to be a woman in today's world, how we experience our cyclic selves in an often linear world, and why it is important that we embrace our own 'Burning Woman' to be, and feel, fully our most powerful and potent selves. Beautifully balanced with poetry, quotes, and prompts to help relate the content to one's self. Excellent resources list too. I can't wait for her next book - Medicine Woman - to be published.

Wonderful book! I intially read this book and really enjoyed it but I didn't quite click with it. I then read it again a year later and it blew my mind. Not quite sure what had changed in the interim but clearly something had and it's now up there in my life-changing book list. Very inspiring, as is all this author's work!

I feel that this was brave writing - I love the honest sharings of the author about vunerable subjects. I agree with the author that reading it is an initiation, and by working through the questions I gained a new perspective on a number of sticky areas! I host a Red Tent and we are going to work through the chapters over the coming months as I feel that this will be even more powerful as a group than individually. This book has made me feel braver. I'm reassured that there are other women feeling like this and excited about what change this can bring when we step into our wholeness.

Burning Woman is for you if you've felt the call. The call to speak up, live your power, be who you're meant to be - and that call scares you f****** silly. Buy it while you're waiting and not ready yet. You'll know it's there, waiting for you when you're ready to pick it up and read. It's a life changer.

Still not sure about this book. Yes she is right about the subject but the tone seems so phony and fake I can’t explain. I was really disappointed about it. Written like the trendy BS books such as light is the new black and the universe has your back, for me it just doesn’t work. Seems like all the books from this author are the same thing: catchy title but no nothing inside.

This book is incredible! Required reading for every woman in our toxic society.

Heard so many people talk about this book and having read books by this author before I was excited to get into it , unfortunately I couldn’t! I don’t know why , I just couldn’t get into it and it felt like a chore to read. It just wasn’t gripping me. I may try in future to re read it though so maybe it is just me ?

A deeply powerful book. I bought the kindle version and then realised this is a book I will go back to time and again so I've ordered the paperback, too, for ease of flicking back and forth. The feminine dark section is sublime.

I celebrated, I cried, I felt incredibly powerful and incredibly raw. The messages in this book resonated deeply and I’ve no doubt that it’s because of how passionately the author feels them. I’m grateful to authors like Lucy Pearce for the way they are helping me to reshape my sense of self as a woman in this modern world.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The writing is powerful, thoughtful and certainly had me experiencing the spectrum of emotions. The exercises within call you to go deep into yourself and face your fears, habits and beliefs.I cannot express how much this book has touched me and I recommend every woman reads it.
