Previous experiences with screen protector have been a disaster at its finest. This item came in in a suggested feed ...
I was extremely doubtful about this product, especially considering how I’ve been burned by other manufacturers for their screen protector offering. Previous experiences with screen protector have been a disaster at its finest. This item came in in a suggested feed on Amazon, while I was desperately looking for the right screen protector for my new and it was sold at $7.85 for 2-packs which is a really good deal. I decided for that price, I would give it a try and the overwhelmingly positive reviews in relation to the extremely detailed instructions and warranty just put the icing on the cake. This is the 3rd screen protector I have tried for the and suffice to say this is better than what I’ve previously have had. My first one was a glass protector but due to the curved edges and corners of the , it did not sit well with the phone screen. It was literally a mismatch; it’s protruding on the edges and apparently visible. The 2nd one was another wet install screen protector. It’s also one that’s selling like hotcakes on Amazon; however, that screen protector did not meet my expectation. Well, it did provide full coverage as they say and all that, however, it is extremely difficult to find a secondary case to complement with it. It would peel on the edges and left me frustrated. Either I gave up the case and/or the screen protector. Needless to say, against all reservations, I decided to just totally remove it and look for another screen saver and so this is where I’m at now. Below is my raw experience of the actual screen protector.Just like any other screen protectors, this came in with everything you need for a successful install – a set of instructions, fiber cloth, and bottle solution; link to a YouTube video guide and of course, the screen protector itself and a small warranty card. This was just like any other but on a close observation, I commend the craftsmanship and the intricate design of their packaging, makes it noteworthy of the display. The screen protector came in perfectly shaped and it was kind of translucent, it feels somewhat thick yet flimsy, totally new feel and deviation from the glass protectors that I’m familiar with. The bottle solution is made of water and mixture of dish soap I guess just by the smell of it and so I figured if ever, I run out of bottle solution, I can just make it my own. By the way, they actually have instructions how to do it on their website. So those little things, you wouldn’t have to worry about. The real struggle is the actual installation itself. If you’re new to this wet install, it would be somewhat disheartening just reading the instructions. Not gonna lie, it was tedious, having been used to the easy no fuss install I had with glass. Despite all that, I still believed this “wet install protectors” have a great chance of success due to its flexible features which make it a very good choice for curved devices. While it was somewhat tedious, I fell in love with this wet-install method because it’s very forgiving. You don’t have to worry if you’ve got it wrong the first time or the alignment is not exactly where it should be, as long as you applied ample amount of liquid solution onto the film, you can just glide it smoothly across the screen and reapply it when needed. Also, I’ve noticed that when it’s wet, the film won’t stick at all, so you have to allow it to sit for a while, 2-3 minutes or so for the adhesive features to kick in. For curved devices, the biggest problem you will have is the edges and corners. First, make sure you get everything good and wet and slide the protector around on the phone until you get it perfectly aligned with the headset speaker, camera, and sensors. Once your alignment is good, you can start squeezing out the fluid with the fabric tipped applicator card. Once you have most of the fluid out, you better like the alignment because you don’t want to lift it again. You will notice that even with most of the fluid out, the corners and edges won't stick particularly well. They are the last to dry, and difficult to squeeze all the fluid out with the applicator card if you have it. By the way, Skinomi does not have one but you can use any credit card and wrapped it with the fiber cloth. As others suggested, you can use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process. And here's how it looks post installation. The protector itself is super clear, I mean literally like nothing is on the screen at all. In the past 24 hours, I have been using it I have found that it virtually leaves no fingerprints, I don't even understand how that's possible but it must have been due to the oleophobic coating that seems to really work. Compared to other plastic protectors I was so used to it was a revelation. The feel of the surface is also quite different than the ones I've tried and in a very good way. It's hard to put in words but it's just a much decent quality, gratifying experience to use. Overall the protector is outstanding and I am very pleased with it. My S-pen glides smoothly and didn't have the icky dragged feeling that you normally felt when there is a screen protector on top of the actual screen. Note that I am using the S-pen tip for plastic rather than the one for glass at the time of this review (the lighter gray tip).If I have to highlight the best feature of this protector, this one is CASE friendly. It just fits perfectly with the Otter Box case. Initially, I thought it would be a little small, leaving the edges exposed but that was just not true. I also tested it with Spigen Neo Hybrid Case and it works well.In conclusion, this is a 10/10 product. It does what it says and delivers. I would greatly recommend it and will be using this product in the future.
