Bright little light, great customer service!
I initially didn't understand how to open the battery compartment--the lid says to just "Push to Open," so I pushed and pushed at it with my fingers and ended up breaking the lid off and not being able to use the product. The customer service was amazing, though--even though breaking the battery lid off the unit was my own fault, I let them know what had happened and they sent me a replacement free of charge! I didn't even ask them to, they just wanted a happy customer. I was really impressed by that; I respect companies that stand by their product and go that extra mile to make sure their customers are satisfied. When I got my new replacement unit, I was much more careful with it. At first I tried pushing the battery compartment lid with my fingers again and it wasn't budging. I knew from my past experience that if I pushed harder I would just break the lid off again, so I examined the lid and noticed that there was a teeny little notch right under where it says "Push to Open," so I used the writing end of a pen and gently inserted it into the notch and pushed down on the pen (using it like a tiny lever) to lift the lid up and off without any damage this time. This worked perfectly and I was able to get the battries in and the lid back on. The light is nice and bright and the unit is stylish. It works perfectly for what I wanted it for.

Not a do-again!
The light is bright and the angle of illumination is good. However, I have three reasons why I would not buy this product again. The batteries, the battery cover and the weight. First, (and maybe it was just this particular one, but...) the batteries were very difficult to install. It uses three and they are configured in a triangular pattern. The first two went in OK, but the third took me 10 minutes and dozens of tries to get it to line up correctly and stay in place. The spring that the negative end fits against seemed to be off kilter and it kept popping the battery back out. When I finally got it to stay in I couldn't get the cover to go on. It fit fine without the batteries in but wouldn't 'click' into place with them installed. Again, another 10 minutes and dozens of tries. I finally did get it to close but I don't know how it will work when the batteries die and I have to replace them. The last issue has to do with the weight of the device. You can't slip it onto only a page or two. You need to place it over multiple pages, say 1/8in or so and even then it tends to bend the pages forward or back. Overall, I just don't think it's very well designed at all. I'll keep it to use as a small work light but I'm going to look for another design to use as a book light, perhaps the little clip-on goose-neck kind.

Great little light, but a bit too bright
A very solidly-built light that is easy to attach to both books and Kindles. Love that it takes standard batteries (AAA). The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because it is incredibly BRIGHT. I like to read while putting the kiddos to bed or right before I go to bed and this light is so bright that it pretty much illuminates the entire room. The LED is so bright, in fact, that it shines out the top of the light - which is a semi-opaque blue plastic - and I have to cover it with something like a washcloth. I like this light a lot, and would love it it was either a bit dimmer or had a way to change the light intensity.

Please read! It's a fire-hazard!
It is utter garbage!!! I bought this along with a bunch of other things, so I didn't get around to trying it until I'd had it more than a month, and now I can't return it. The very FIRST time I tried it, I put in some freshly charged rechargeable Amazon Basics batteries (which are great, btw) and before I had put the third and last one in, I smelled something burning and looked around. I put the third one in as I looked back, and there was a small tendril of smoke rising from the book light. I immediately pulled the batteries out and they were extremely hot. Not quite hot enough to burn, but hot enough to be very uncomfortable to hold. I decided to try again the next day, when I had natural sunlight instead of the weaker light from my overhead. I thought that maybe I had put them in backwards. I hadn't. The same thing happened and they were in for an even SHORTER amount of time - only a couple seconds. Piece of junk! Don't waste your time or money on it.

Worked well for while, broke after a month of occasional use.
It fell apart after a month, first the sides, then the screen itself came off and now I can't shut it off. Plus, it leaks the light around when clipped.

Perfect little handy flip flashlight!
Perfect for my needs! I needed a little flash light for by my bedside that I could flip open because my fingers cannot push buttons due to neuropathy. I could not find the one I had been using for years which finally gave up its ghost. I looked and looked, but now days, all little flashlights have push buttons or slide buttons, which I can't do because the ends of my fingers burn too badly. This is about3 1/2 inches across so it's not too big, but puts out a nice supply of light. I can kind of dim it with the hand I am holding it in when I need to in case my husband is sleeping for instance. it is light, portable, and I can read by it in the dark or find my medications if necessary. This works perfectly!

Having problems
I have problems with this particular book lamp clipping it to the pages of the book. It wrinkles the pages. Then, the pages fall over and I have to hold it up to read. I can clip it on the side of the book instead of the top and get better results. It does give off a good bright light.

Good light for reading
My husband uses this at night. It works well but it's a little bit too bright to use when the lights are out. I wish there was a dimmer setting.
