Santa's First Vegan Christmas

Santa's First Vegan Christmas is a clever story that exposes the injustice underlying the traditional Santa and reindeer narrative. But don't worry, the story is not meant to subvert, but rather to revise. The author is not looking to rain on anyone's Santa parade. Instead, she merely points out the errors in the original narrative and its depictions and revises the story to include reindeers as subjects rather than objects whose sole purpose is to pull Santa's heavy sleigh. I just read Santa's First Vegan Christmas. All I can say is... it's delightful, whimsical and enchanting. How refreshing to experience a new take on this age old tradition. It's a lovely story for kids and a thought provoking one for everybody. Last year I read Robin Raven's first novel, Next Stop: Nina which was an intimate and revealing story about the title character. This wonderful new Christmas tale shows Ms Raven's amazing range as an author. Also, the artwork in the book is just wonderful and so captures the feeling of the story. Merry Christmas to all!

I pre-ordered Santa's First Vegan Christmas and it finally arrived. Even though it's June, I read the book to my daughter right away. We both fell in love with it. I love that the verses rhyme, which makes it fun to read to kids. You instantly feel for Dana the reindeer and cheer for her and Santa as they work together to do good deeds on Christmas Eve. Lots of lessons to be learned in this book, so I encourage all parents to get a copy. You won't be disappointed.I paid full price for this book and the review is my honest opinion.

Fabulous book that shows Santa as a kind-hearted hero who is sure to inspire kids. Dana the Reindeer helps Santa enjoy Christmas more than he ever has before. Santa discovers ways to make it more meaningful for all creatures. Together, Santa and Dana help spread the true meaning of Christmas in this wonderful, rhymed adventure. Not only is it very well-written, but it's also beautifully illustrated in a way that's sure to capture children's imaginations.

I just purchased this little book for two of my grandchildren for Christmas. What a fun book. Ms. Raven has done an excellent job teaching about saving our planet and its resources via a Christmas story. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Excellent Book!!!!

This is a beautifully written story with a important message shared in a lovely way... No one was vilified, which is important... It teaches respect for all though understanding... Beautiful graphics...

I was surprised it was about the use of animals and not about food. I’m not sure I’ll share it with kids. It might spoil the whole Rudolph story.

I got really excited about a vegan Christmas book but got a bit disappointed.The illustrations aren't that great and my daughter hasn't really gotten into it so far. The language is what makes me give this book only three stars. It rhymes but some of the words are just too difficult for a small child. I just excpected more but maybe it is just my taste in books that's the problem... Great idea though to create a vegan Christmas story.
