Great value for the price
I am a retired high school math teacher. I purchased 4 of these calculators for my nieces and nephews who are in grades 5 -10. (The younger one is really good at math.) In my experience as a high school math teacher the students either get:!. A graphing calculator like Texas Instruments Silver Edition. This is a tremendous calculator, and every high school math student should eventually have one (or a similar graphing calculator) but for many courses it is overkill. For business courses, chemistry, physics, and lower math courses that do not involve complicated graphing, the Casio is a better choice. Also, some standardized tests allow calculators but not graphing calculators, The student should be familiar with a basic calculator, and probably should carry the Casio as a backup even when a graphing calculator is permitted.2. A Texas Instruments product in the same price range as the Casio. The Texas Instruments tool is excellent, but I find that the Casio is a better choice. The fact that the entries for the last problem remain on the screen after hitting "=" is a major plus. The editing is easy, and the treatment of fractional exponents is superior in the Casio. Both do a fine job of handling logarithms and trig functions.Disclaimer #1 I was using aTI-30XA for comparison purposes. (As a said before, a very good buy.)Disclaimer #2 I also gave the relatives a $1.00 Scientific Calculator from Dollar Tree.. I told them that they should experiment with this machine, and perhaps take it apart to see what is inside. This machine is very capable of solving most that the problems that can be solved with the more expensive tools. However, I found the keyboard much more confining, and I questioned (without any data) how long the batteries would last..My conclusion : Buy a Casio in elementary or junior high school and buy a T. I. when a graphing calculator is required.

Accountant addicted to this model-still going strong!
This calculator is INCREDIBLE! I had just re-ordered (and already received) the exact same model (fx-300MS) that I had for MANY MANY years and the screen had JUST started to fade. I didn't even bother replacing the battery for first time-as SOON as I saw Casio still offered this exact same model and for a FANTASTIC price. Honestly, I would have paid a $50 for this calculator- as long as none of the components have changed...and they haven't! I used it at work today-- and thrilled to say it is exactly the same but even better as the screen is of course much brighter! As someone who works in accounting/finance-- this calculator is a must-have. You can enter huge strings of equations or numbers without needing to start over if you make one mis-type. (I despise the AC button on regular calculators- as I associate it one tiny mistype within a 60 number sequence.)My co-workers frequently borrow this calculator-(preferred over our 'company bought' ones simply for the lack of headache!) Major attributes: 1.) LONG LIFETIME! (I never had to change batteries on last one and had it for over half a decade- if not longer. (Using on a constant/daily basis.)2.) You can delete (backspace as if it is on your computer) throughout long strands of numbers you are entering...all clearly displayed atop the display screen. For example: With entering taxes-- adding up 20 different totals for receipts-- they are all clearly displayed atop the screen. If I mis-type a number-- I simply back space and re-type number in. No need to clear out and start again. Fantastic feature that makes me truly believe for the money, (actually I just don't know of another calculator that compares at this point) this one is top notch in my books!! SO thrilled with the seller for how quickly they sent this perfectly un-wrapped calculator....and CASIO for not dis-continuing it! I adore...and believe you will too.

Need a calculator, this is a great option
You guessed it! It's definitely a Scientific Calculator.A little background (skip to the next part for review of this calculator)-I've had a Casio calculator for 20+ years, and it finally broke! After parts of middle school, high school, a little bit of college, living in a closet, living in a tool box, living in my car, and being stuffed in boxes and constantly being tossed around and generally being used and abused the Casio tapped out. Of course I had a TI-83 graphing calculator (as most people do) as required for some of my classes, but those are long gone. As I started going to community college in an attempt to change career paths, I found myself needing a calculator and the last Casio I had had finally been so beat up it quit working and the LCD screen had somehow cracked.Enter Casio FX-300MS. As I found myself in need of a scientific calculator, I came across this. It reminded me of my trusty old Casio, so I bought it for just under $9. I've now used it for 3 months, and it's great! The calculator does everything you'd expect it to and then some. I don't know about you, but I've never used all the functions on a calculator and probably never will. This calculator's buttons are easy to push and don't require you to deliberately push the buttons (like you're mad at it) and most of the buttons are where you'd expect them to be. It's lightweight and is slightly bigger than my GS7.
