CoolStream Go Bluetooth Adapter for 30 Pin Bose Sounddock and Motorcycle Cables for Wireless Music Streaming NOT for Cars. NOT for Harley Davidson.

This little thing is a gem! It works great on my older iHome Clock Radio which has the old school Apple docking connector. It works great with this clock radio. It's nice to be able to use the dock again and not have to go with the wired audio input anymore. In fact, I like it better than the old way because I can enjoy my music through the clock radio while still being able to check things on my phone. If it were sitting in the dock, that would be hard to do - if not impossible. A neat little perk is the fact that this thing has a battery built into it which charges while connected to a dock. It also has a headphone jack. This will basically turn any wired headphones into Bluetooth headphones. While in battery/portable mode, I was able to pair it with my Amazon Fire TV box and watch TV wirelessly with headphones. The only thing to note is that you will need to control the volume from the streaming device or the headphone. This unit does not have volume control on it - but that's not a big deal considering this whole wireless thing was an unexpected perk. I did try this with my Bose Lifestyle Surround Sound system's dock, and it does NOT work with it. To be specific, this device DOES pair with my iPhone and does what it's supposed to do while connected to the Bose dock. It's just that Bose won't recognize it. I'm not going to deduct anything from this unit because of this. I blame Bose for this as their overpriced products have quirks. Enough said; I learned my lesson with Bose years ago, and won't make that mistake again. This unit has never once disconnected on me. The other day I put on some music on my iHome Clock Radio via my phone and fell asleep to it. I woke up several hours later and it was still going. (Good thing I plugged the phone in to its charger). All-in-all, you can't go wrong with this little unit. At $30, it's at the high end (maybe a little beyond) of what I'm willing to pay for something like this. But, you do get what you pay for, and so far I feel as though I have.

I rarely leave reviews (lazy mainly) and I purchase a fair amount of products to know good from bad. So for me to take the time to submit a review means the product really must be as good as it was portrayed. I have two Bose SoundDocks - one wired and one a rechargeable system - but both were the old 30-pin connector and since moving to new phones with the Ligthning connector, using these speakers was awkward. I purchased one of the Apply 30-pin to Lightning cables but while it did work, it felt awkward at best to use. I was ready to ditch the speakers and started looking at newer Bluetooth speakers, when it suddenly occurred to me to see if 30-pin Bluetooth adapters existed (as if I should ever have doubted it). I found two that seemed to be the best value based on ratings, cost etc. In the end I decided to go with the Coolstream Duo, although I was concerned about some reviews stating the distance the phone could be from the adapter was very limited, but I figured I could work around that. Anyway, moving on to the real point of the review. Simply put, the product works, and works well. Plugged it into the SoundDock, turned it on, enabled Bluetooth on my phone, located Coolstream and pressed Connect. That simple. In seconds, music was playing out of the speaker. I live in a two-story townhouse, and I went to the furthest point on the second floor and put about 30 feet (direct-line) between me and the CoolStream. My wife downstairs stated the music never missed a beat. I feel like the cost of this adapter basically allowed these old SoundDocks to have a second lease on life - I think I saw the Bose smile (honest!). I hate disposing of something that is still useful just because another technology has moved on. I already own Bluetooth headset, so I have not tested that functionality and cannot comment on it, but that was not a selling point for me. I have an after-market harness I had installed in my car so I could use my old 30-pin iPod through my car sound-system. I plugged the CoolStream into the harness cable, and my phone played music perfectly; again no more having to be connected to the Apple adapter cable. The CoolStream works, price point is just right. Not much else to say, except I will be ordering a second one so I can leave it in the car.

I live at an apartment complex and at the community pool they have an iPod dock that allows people to play their own music. Unfortunately only people with iPhones and iPods could use the dock. I bought the CoolStream duo to be able to connect my Nexus 7 via Bluetooth to the dock. I took the CoolStream Duo to the pool and anyone with a Bluetooth device (Android phone, tablet, iPhone etc...) was able connect and play their music. It was definitely a hit at the pool and everyone loved it. I liked the CooLstream Duo because the dock did not have power so it needed to be re-chargeable. The first day I used it I was playing music for 6 hours and when it was time to leave the battery had still not run out. Using my Nexus 7 I was able to be 90 feet away from the CoolStream and it still picked up the signal. (I measured the distance using Google Maps), It was probably my Nexus 7 that had a strong signal that allowed this distance. When certain phones were connected they could only get 20 to 30 feet (but still impressive). An iPod mini was only able to be 3 feet away. This suggests it is the strength of the signal from your Bluetooth device that determines max distance. Unfortunately, after a week of plugging in of the CoolStream caused the connector to be pushed into the device and it no longer functioned. I was not sure if this was a manufacturing defect with the device or just the one I received so I contacted support at CoolStream.com via email on the ‘contact us link’ to see if it could be repaired. Well I got a message the next day from Mark at CoolStream customer service and they said it was a defect of the one I received and offered to send out a replacement with a return envelope for the defective one. That is good customer service. In fact if you look at some of the one star reviews you will see that customer service has reached out to try and help fix their problems. As promised I received a brand new device and an envelope to return the faulty one. Simple to use - Remove from packing - Charge device - Plug in to dock - Pair device - Play music for 6+ hours from up to 90ft away. P.S. The unit is off when the switch is closest to the 3.5mm jack

Like many here I purchased this Bluetooth adapter for my Bose SoundDock portable to expand its capabilities to include Bluetooth. I did try a similar product a few years back but it didn't work as well. My old device only functioned if you removed and reinstalled it each and every time prior to using it which was very inconvenient. Eventually it died and I began looking for a better replacement. What I notice about the CoolStream Duo is its very aggressive in establishing a Bluetooth connection. By that I mean no matter what device I have paired it to as soon as I switch on the Bluetooth setting it immediately locks onto the CoolStream. Mostly this is very desirable since there is little to no waiting before use. Unfortunately this aggressive behavior has a downside. If I try to use a different Bluetooth speaker it quickly links to the SoundDock forcing me to change my device settings and choosing the Bluetooth speaker I prefer rather than the SoundDock. Another observation is while the CoolStream Duo does lock on quickly to my SoundDock it only does so if the SoundDock is plugged in. When its on battery power it's less likely to connect unless I physically remove the CoolStream Duo first and plug it back on. I tried the switch in both positions but this didn't seem to have any effect. Overall I do like the CoolStream Duo since it works more reliably than my older Bluetooth adapter did and I believe the sound quality may actually be better. I also feel that since all these adapters are a band-aid approach to getting Bluetooth on legacy speakers such as the SoundDock it will never work as flawless than a speaker with integrated Bluetooth. That said, $30 may seem a little pricey. But given it adds new life to a $250 SoundDock makes it more cost-effective than replacing the speaker especially since the SoundDock has a user replaceable battery while it's successors do not. Another asset of the CoolStream Duo is its 3.5mm aux input that comes with an short cable and make this a far more flexible and useful solution than competing alternatives...

I highly recommend this product! Here's why. For over three years, I had been using my iPod Classic with a Bose SoundDock Portable both to relax in the evening and as my morning alarm clock. After several years of faithful service, my iPod Classic stopped working, so I went to Best Buy to find a replacement. Unfortunately, Apple no longer manufactures the iPod Classic, nor any version of the iPod which uses the 30-pin connector that the Bose SoundDock Portable requires. I contacted Bose's customer service department, and the representative with whom I spoke asked if I owned a smartphone. I replied that I had a Samsung Galaxy S5. Bose's customer support representative suggested that I purchase a Bluetooth adapter for the SoundDock Portable and that I use my smartphone's music player as a replacement for my now defunct iPod Classic. He cautioned me, however, to shop carefully for the Bluetooth adapter, as there were several on the market, many of whom were not very good. I did as I was instructed, and found the CoolStream Duo. The CoolStream Duo is very easy to use; just plug it in. My Samsung Galaxy S5 paired with the adapter without any problems, and the standard music player app on the S5 works great. The alarm clock function on the clock app also works. I did have to upgrade the micro SD card I was using with my S5 to one that is large enough to hold my entire music collection, which is greater than 80GB. Even so, I now have the functionality of my old IPod Classic for less than half of what it would have cost to replace it. I also tested the CoolStream Duo with a Klipsch iGroove SXT iPod docking station that I use for travel. Again, it worked flawlessly. Hence, I will be purchasing a second CoolStream Duo for traveling. If you need to replace an iPod Classic, you can't go wrong with the CoolStream Duo and a Bluetooth-capable smartphone.

I have a tower speaker purchase from Brookstone made for the iPod/iPhone with a 30pin connector. For years I've had an iPhone sitting on it, but unfortunately it recently died. At this point I had a few options. Get the 30 pin to lightning adapter and have something not sit very solid in a cradle. That wouldn't word. Use an sux chord? Nope...need another adapter for the iPhone I carry. Bluetooth adapter connected to the aux? Seemed most promising and at least I could use my phone to control sound and songs as opposed to using an IR remote. Well, the problem with this solution is that I would have the adapter, an aux chord going to the 3.5mm input jack, AND a USB chord going to a power brick to keep the thing on. That's a lot of stuff connected. Well, somehow I sumbled on this. I didn't even no it existed, but seeing as it hooked to the 30 pin connector, it seemed to be the perfect solution. Guess what? It was! I simply dropped this on the connector, search for "coolstream" in the Bluetooth list and I was off and running. The best part is the apple connector keeps this charged as well as (obviously) send the music to the device. This means no chords! This looks just as it I had an old mini sitting in the dock. The solution was absolutely perfect. While there is a power switch, there's no need to mess with it. While I give this 5 stars, there are a few things I would like to see changed. First, while I don't need to worry about the power switch, the on/off should be labeled. Next, it would be nice if this would auto connect. Whenever you turn your source of music on, you'll need to reconnect to the cool stream. The last thing I would like to see is the option to turn the led off. While not crazy bright, it can be an annoyance at night...when using it in the evening and then turning the tower speaker off, this light just flashes blue. Eventually it'll turn off, but I haven't figured out how to get this to not come on...even when powering off right at the coolstream. Regardless, these are very minor and not worth losing a star.

I have a Bose SoundDock that I got 9 years ago, and I haven't used it in a couple of years because it is an Apple 30 pin connector, and all of my iDevices are Lighting connector now. It doesn't have auxiliary in port, or I would have hooked an Airport Express and played music through it that way. I thought that I had a $300 paper weight on my hands until I found the CoolStream Duo. It works great! As soon as I received it, I plugged it in to the Bose, opened up the Bluetooth Settings on my iPhone 5s, paired them, and stared playing music. It works like a charm. I have a typical wood frame single family home, and I walked around the house while the SoundDock was in the living room, and it never lost the signal, even when I went downstairs and in the garage. The distance that the signal reached was very impressive. I was concerned that since this was Bluetooth, not Wifi like an Airport Express set-up, I would have to stay in the same room, but that was not the case at all. The other nice thing about this is that you can control the devices volume from your iPhone while you are playing music. I set the Bose volume to max, and then control the volume from my phone. I easily paired my MacBook Pro, iPhone 5s, and 3rd gen iPad, and played music from all of them on the Bose. It has another feature that you might not use often, but it does add value in my opinion. The Duo has an auxiliary out port that you can plug into any radio that has an auxiliary in port using a 3.5mm Auxiliary Jack and play music through that player as well. This would make it work with any device that doesn't have the Apple 30 pin connector. While it is plugged in to the 30 pin connector, it is charging it's internal battery, so you can take it with you and play it through other devices with the 3.5mm Auxiliary Jack wire. They say you'll get 4-5 hours, of play on a full charge, but I did not test this. Overall, I strongly recommend this product.

I purchased a 2007 Volvo S60R with an HU-850 6-disc head unit and a factory installed 30-pin Apple connector. Being that 30-pin is pretty much ancient when compared to newer Apple cords (which keep changing every three years or so), but I still didn't want a pile of CDs taking up all the space of the front passenger seat, I did some research on a 30-pin connector to Bluetooth adapter, and while there are quite a few out there, the descriptions aren't particularly helpful in determining if they will work with a vehicle audio system. Of all the devices I researched, the CoolStream was the only one that had a list of compatible vehicles for each device that the company sells, and seeing that it was at *least* compatible with the 2007 Volvo V70 (which has the same head unit), I jumped on it. I was very happy that the device showed up on time, and was as simple as plugging it into the auxiliary cable and switching it on. Based on other reviews I've read, I make sure that my phone volume is up all the way so that the only thing I have to adjust is the radio volume in the car. My vehicle has a really nice stock stereo system, and the CoolStream Duo sounds brilliant on it. There's no fuzz or interference noise, no loss of signal anywhere in the car, and I can coil up the cable and CoolStream in the center console so that there's no wires whatsoever cluttering up the driving space. The auxiliary cable charges the CoolStream's battery, so while the car is on, there's no need to worry about it dying mid drive. Getting the sound from my phone to the speakers is all I need it to do, and that's all it does. The HU-850 registers the device as a "10-disc CD changer" like one that you would install in the trunk of the car, and you must select a track in order to complete the connection if your phone is playing music (I've only tested it with Slacker Radio on my phone). There's no way to control song selection from the steering wheel or the head unit; these things must still be controlled via the phone. These are minor quibbles, however, and not the reason I gave the device 4 stars instead of 5. You really want to do your homework to find out if the device is going to work for your car, and it's not always easy to tell, especially if you have a particularly exotic make or model. The best way to find out is to check the list of compatible devices (there are quite a few of them) and see if what you have in your car matches what they have listed (even if it's a different make/model/year it can still have the same or a similar stereo; you just have to do a little Google sleuthing). Even still, CoolStream has contacted me twice to make sure that the device is working well, and after only had it a week, I haven't had a single problem with it. Even if it only lasts a year, I'll buy another one if they're still available. $30 is a whole lot better than a $300 kit that requires you to tear out your stereo to install.

Initially I was concerned with the compatibility with my Yahama MCR840 stereo, due to it not being listed on the compatible models, however I can confirm that it works floorlessly with stereo and provides great functionality!

Excelente uso para una bocina bose ya que era de mi iPod y al perder este la bocina quedó obsoleta y sin uso no tiene auxiliar y ahora con el coolstrem la manejo con Bluetooth y de nuevo escucho mi música!
