Saves my baby
Update: This worked great for a while but when I had to change the batteries it never worked right after that. I don't know why it never worked right. It would work a few times and then stop. I tried multiple batteries and it was all the same. I'll drop 2 stars and leave it at 3 because it was great but then died after a year or so when the batteries died.My car is my single most important possession. Right after my family it is the most important thing in the world to me really. We just got a new house and the garage is a little shorter than I'm used to. I have to make sure to get far enough not to clip my rear bumper with the door but not too far in that I crush my front end. This is a special edition '02 Camaro and the front end dips down real far so you can't see where it's at well. There is so little room for error, I have to be in the spot plus or minus 4 inches either way before I have problems. This sensor mounted easily, isn't too noticeable when you're not looking for it, and it works great. I approach slowly and watch the green, yellow and then red lights come on and my car is just where I need it to be.

This has been a very useful investment for me
This has been a very useful investment for me. I've a history of buying gadgets that go into storage in a week or so. This has served meevery day for months now, in hot and icy cold weather. I have it in a carport to protect the front bumper of my low slung Prius as well asthe aluminum storage box on the opposite side of the concrete tire stop. I'm still on the first set of batteries. I should secure it properly because I know if it hits the pavement will be destroyed on impact. This is useful but fragile, no question about that. The proximityindicator is retractable and extends a few feet. I had to play with it a bit and insert the batteries several times to get it functioning.I assume that was due to a bit of metal parts oxidation (or my ignorance in setup). Once I got it working, it hasn't failed me.

very useful
I moved into my new house a few months ago, and was parking my car too close the the back wall. There was no danger of me actually hitting the wall, but I wasn't leaving enough room to walk comfortably between the car and the wall. It was especially annoying when I had a bag of garbage to take out. This sensor does the trick! The tape included with it wasn't strong enough to keep the light mounted on the wall, but a command strip works fine. (You could also mount it to the wall using screws, but I hate to put holes in walls...even in the garage.) I tend to back into the garage...it always senses my car when I back in but on the rare occasion I pull in forward, it sometimes doesn't sense the car. Rather, it senses it sporadically...the light will kind of flash on and off, instead of staying on steadily as it does when I back in. Maybe this is because of different bumper heights in front and back? Just something to be aware of. If I pulled in forward, I'd have probably mounted the sensor in a slightly different position to ensure it always picked it up.

Works well
Bought one for each car a couple years ago. The unit in front of my car is perfect- always works as expected. Because of our garage's layout, the unit in front of my wife's car needed to be slightly offset, about 6 inches to a foot to the right of the center of her bumper. This unit is a bit finicky (eg, sometimes the green and yellow lights do not come on first; only the red light pops on when the car enters the zone selected), but it still gets the job done. I'm not sure if the finicky-ness is the fault of the unit or of the placement. Either way, I recently bought two more when we moved into our new home and left the old ones for our renters. Planning to put the new ones up soon and will update my review if necessary.

Read the directions. Measured the distance from the bumper to the wall. Measured the distance from the floor to the middle of the bumper. Put in the 4 AA batteries and selected the distance. Mounted the main part with the Velcro sticky tape to the wall at the right height. Put the light at the height that I could see it and mounted it on the wall with the Velcro sticky tape. About 15 min later the light fell off the wall and was in front of the sensor which caused the light to flash and change color. Kind of reminded me of a disco. Put a screw in the wall and re-mounted the light. It blinked several times and then quit.Later I went to the garage and the light was blinking yellow and then quit. Then it blinked red a couple of times and then yellow again. After a couple of minutes it quit.Opened the garage door and the light started blinking but it quit.I drove into the garage, no lights. After I stopped and shut off the car the lights started to blink. They quit after a short time.Next day drove into the garage verrrrrry sloooooooow and the green light came on followed by the yellow light as I moved about a foot closer and then about six inches closer the red light came on.Does it work? I guess so. Do I trust it? No way. Would I recommend it? Only if you have nothing else to do with your money and want a conversation piece in your garage.

Great idea! A few months later, I bought a second one.
So, I wanted something to demonstrate to me when to stop when I pulled the car into the garage. I didn't want something that fastened to the floor - I'd trip over it. I didn't want to hang a tennis ball - that looks tacky and gets in the way. I thought of the laser beam device, but that beam is tiny and it would be difficult to see since I reverse and back into the garage frequently.Enter this device! Perfect! My installation method:It's easy to screw into the wall, but first, if you back into the garage like I do, put a piece of dark tape on the wall, first, to see if you can see the tape in your rear view mirror. If it's in a good view with your rear view mirror, just drill the hole for the light, then pull down the retractible base until you get it aligned with your bumper. Screw the base into the wall at that level. Add batteries and you're done.

MY LOST FORTUNE
I invented this device in my head but checked 'on line' to see if anyone else had thought of it before developing it and going on 'Dragons Den'........ D'oh!........... Well it is a great little device and bang on for the money. I tested it in my living room before installing it in the garage, the wife thought I was going mad, slowly walking across the living room holding a dustbin lid in front of me, steel tape in hand and making car noises! I was amazed at the distances accuracy of the 3 settings (1ft, 2 ft. 3ft or 305mm, 610mm, 915mm) they were correct to within 5mm (quarter inch). Please note that the distances are not adjustable, there is a switch with the 3 settings on the back of the device which you set for the distance you desire. You can mount the device on a solid object (workbench, storage box or similar) or build a mounting bracket out of Dexion (other rack building angle is available) if the set distances are between your desired distance. Hope I have covered everything there and I would definitely recommend the device to others.
