Country Farmhouse

What a shame. This really is a nice book, but it is almost hard to tell because of the low-quality printed photos. Here is what I mean. The pictures of the homes, rooms, and beautiful horses are really nice, but it is really hard to appreciate that because the photos appear to be all printed with "draft" quality ink and all of them have been muted and dulled down.All the photos are dull and muted from what they would really appear in real-life. Here's an example: The picture on the front cover of this book looks really nice and has nice color and sharpness. This exact photo on the cover of the book is also in the book itself, however, in the book, the photo's color has been faded about 3 or 4 notches down and is really dull and muted. And this is exactly how all of the photos inside this book are - they are all dull and muted. Why did the author agree to this?? I feel as though this book has been ruined by deliberately dulling and muting every single photo. What a shame! Because of all the dulled down photo's, it's hard to appreciate the beauty in the photos. This book gets 4/5 because of all of the dulled down and muted photos.

I got this book so I could get ideas for decorating on a budget in a country farm house style. I deducted stars because the pictures were very flat. Not sure if the lighting was bad or they just took the projects from existing construction and used them. There are some nice farmhouses, some are almost too nice, like a very rich persons farmhouse. So was surprised, but people nowadays like to pretend they live in a farmhouse but with more comforts. Would have liked to have more text about some of the projects as they seem very interesting. Overall I feel like the book was thrown together and for the price should include much more information. Not just flat pictures with minimal text backup.

This book could have been so much more exciting if good quality, glossy paper had been used.Unfortunately because that wasn't the case, the pics came across as dull and dreary. Such a shame knowing all the effort that must have gone into the making of the book.I dont like to post negative reviews, I'm sorry, but I was disappointed.

I was swayed by the title and the pic. on the cover and finally gave in and bought this book. It is not at all what you'd expect from the title. The homes featured are not farmhouses and do not have any kind of "country" feel in their interiors for the most part. With few exceptions these homes are architect designed and designer decorated. There is no homey, casual feeling. It's getting more and more difficult to find a good design book w/ "real" homes put together over time by people who live in them.

I gave this book 5 stars because it is a beautiful book. It's just not what I thought it was going to be. This is more a gentleman farmer's farmhouse style. Too expensive for me. I expected it to be more homey style. A little shabby chic a little rustic. It not, it's more on the formal style.

This is a beautiful book - I own a copy of it myself. When I ordered one for my daughter for Christmas, it arrived damaged at the bottom. There was some kind of yellow residue along the bottom edges and pages, and all the pages were warped. I immediately ordered another copy so I could get a good one in time for Christmas. I just received the new one, and it has exactly the same damage! (See picture.)

Love this book, as it has some beautiful ideas in it!!

I just received this book, and I must say it does not disappoint. The photographs are beautiful, the text informative, and the various styles of "farmhouse" presented enrich the notion of the farmhouse style. I would not hesitate to recommend, or gift this book.
