Very nice quiet fan that does not take up a lot of floor space and has a remote control.
I like this fan a lot. It is quieter with a more pleasant sound quality than other fans I have owned, and it has a convenient remote control. It solves 3 problems for me: 1) when the room temperature is sorta OK but I feel too warm in my plush (and thus warm) recliner, 2) when my window air conditioner is cooling one side of the room more than the other, and 3) when my wife (who likes it warmer than I do) is comfortable but I am too warm.I almost always keep the fan pointed steady at me (stationary with the sweeping motion turned off) - yet the sweeping motion is useful for positioning the fan exactly on me with the remote. However, positioning with the remote is tricky and takes a bit of practice - as you have to anticipate where the breeze will be and because the air does not come out where it looks like it should - it is about 22 degrees off center.Regarding sound, in a very quiet room from about 8 feet away, the fan levels range from almost totally inaudible to pretty loud. The three lowest settings are very quiet and pleasant (they are the only settings I use, as the higher settings are too noisy for me). The sound has a lower pitch (a more throaty sound) with less high pitch whining than other fans I have owned. The lowest setting is almost inaudible (from 8 feet away in a quiet room) - I have to listen hard to hear it but then I can barely feel the breeze from it either. Still it moves the air a bit and sometimes that is all I need. The 2nd lowest level is very nice - a pleasant enough sound level with a slight and pleasant breeze on bare skin from across the room. Level 3 is also pleasant in a quiet room but is a good bit more noticeable. I use it most often when there is other noise in the room (e.g. if the TV is on or the window A/C is on). Level 4 has a bit more forced air kind of sound, but is not real bad. Many people would find it OK, but I avoid it. Level 5 is louder still etc etc.My unit had one defect - the back light on the 3rd fan setting does not light up. I decided it was not worth sending it back for such a minor defect. The fans shape takes very little floor space and distributes the air at a pleasant height but prevents it from being used in a window as an exhaust fan. This unit has some features I do not use, like the thermostat which can turn it on when the room gets over a set temperature. (I prefer to turn it on when I feel the need). There is another model of this fan with fewer fan settings and no thermostat and when I bought this one, the other model was about $10 cheaper than this one. I would guess the other model would have been fine for me but I wanted the extra fine fan settings.I paid about $57 for my fan, but as I write this, the price has gone up a lot and it is no longer available on Amazon Prime. Perhaps it is being replaced by another model. Some reviews say this fan failed after 1 year - just after the warranty was up. This worried me, so I considered buying the extended warranty. Instead, I used my Amazon branded credit card to buy it - which automatically gives a 1 year warranty extension - for a total of 2 years - and I got 3% cash back. Sweet. Many credit cards have this extended warranty feature. Check to see if yours does.

I'm seriously in love with this fan.
I'm originally from the south and have recently moved up north where there are no ceiling fans... weird I know. When I first moved up here, I had window AC units which created a fan like breeze but now I live in a third floor apartment with skylights and a central AC system. It can get seriously stuffy in my room because I only have a huge skylight window that doesn't open and one tiny vent where the AC comes out. I didn't want to crank the AC up more because it's a serious energy suck and our electric bill is always through the roof if we use the AC too much so I came to the conclusion that I need a fan in my room. I looked at a bunch of types of fans (just normal run of the mill box fans and such) and concluded that I was going to treat myself and buy a tower fan (the dimensions also work best with the layout of my room). After looking a lot of the tower fans on amazon I settled on this one for a few reasons: it was the only one under 100 that had a temperature display, It had a ton of different speeds, and it advertised that it was quiet. The last one is a big one for me because unlike some people I do not like a lot of white noise when I sleep. I'm now on night two with this thing and I slept like a rock last night. This thing is seriously QUIET. and it feels great when you sleep. Besides that the pros are: oscillates about 180 degrees, optional oscillation, dimly lit display so it doesn't blind you when you're trying to sleep, temperature gauge that shuts off the fan at a certain temp, SUPER easy to assemble (literally took me less than 5 minutes). Some of the cons are (which are more like minor annoyances): sleep timer is only in 4 increments and the fan doesn't really cool the temperature of the room (which I didn't buy it expecting that) mine only moved the temperature gauge like 1 or 2 degrees down but I FEEL a lot cooler which is what matters more to me. My room is very hot (it can be around 84 degrees mid day with the AC on) and I have the fan right now on the second to lowest setting and I am very comfortable. Get this fan! I cannot recommend it enough and I'm pretty sure my friends want me to shut up about it already.

it's great. but the light on the unit is so ...
it's great. but the light on the unit is so bright it has to be covered up since it is in the bedroom. A little black electrical tape covers the light nicely. we find this fan almost silent on the lowest setting which is great for sleeping.

Very disappointed
Very disappointing. The product is obviously not new and is someone else's reject. It's very noisy on the sleep setting and my cheaper Quietset model is far better. It is scuffed and damaged. Had I known it wasn't new obviously would not have purchased it.
