I think it's made from solder wire pounded flat
This is made from the flimsiest metal I've ever seen. It bent slightly just in shipping, and now someone messed with it and one of the arms got a kink in it so it doesn't work at all. Granted, people shouldn't mess with it, but it shouldn't be so flimsy that a preteen opening and closing it could bend it irreparably.

Not accurate
This is great in theory but not accurate in evenly spacing markings for button holes or pleats. Use a ruler and calculator.

Very poorly made and packaged.
This item arrived in a flexible package and was bent beyond use. Upon inspection, I saw that many of the pins at the pivot points were not securely fastened. Even had this item not been bent it would not have been useable more than a day before it came apart.

This is a terrible product, save your money. The tool is only accurate when extended fully so can not be used for smaller increments.

Has limits
The Simflex tool is flimsy. And only expands so far - not enough for what I generally need.
