Great optics, accurate adjustment dials; great scope for the money
Awesome scope for a modern sporting rifle. Optics are very clear. Adjustments are 'true' and respond immediately (not after a few shots are fired, like the 'cheaper' scopes.) I would buy this again and have already recommended it to others. It is simple (fixed 3X means fewer moving parts and less 'openings' to leak the nitrogen gas inside.) It is very strong. You get a great view through it. The bullet drop 'circles' are very handy to have and you can go to Nikon's website to calculate what range each circle represents based on the caliber and load you are firing. I printed it out and taped that to my scope. Don't cheap out. Buy this over a BSA or a BARSKA or whatever else you might be looking at. I'm old enough to honestly say that buying quality the first time actually SAVES YOU MONEY in the long run. When you buy 'cheap' you are soon shopping again and that 'bargain' actually ended up costing you more than if you had just spent a little more money in the first place to get something truly good. You won't regret buying this Nikon.

Focus on a good scope
My first impression of taking this out of the box is how stout this little scope is. It's solid! And, of course, the optical clarity you'd expect from Nikon is there, it's a very nice scope for the money. It's also a great size for the AR, not too big or small, just right. Sometimes putting full sized scopes on AR's can be a hassle, and they certainly add to the weight of the gun, this is right in there and hits that sweet spot. The reticle isn't the BDC type I have on my other Nikon's, but the turret adjustments, build quality and overall design makes it a very nice scope. It would also be a great scope for maybe something like a carbine or brush type gun in .223. I will update once I mount it and sight it in, but so far, I'm very impressed. Great value.

Good scope for the price, Unless you are packing your AR on hikes.
I bought this to go on one of my AR-15s, I wanted a small scope for out to 400 yards, and for that It works great. It is fairly light, and short.. however the "tacticool" turrets are much bigger than necessary. They are much bigger than they look in the pictureand they make it so this is not a compact scope at all. If I were to carry this rifle on a sling the turrets are what bump against things. (this is a problem because they are fairly easy to turn and I can see them loosing zero during a hike) It would be good if they had some way of locking... I am not a fan of the BDC reticle as I prefer to use moa hash marks, but they aren't bad, And if you set it up for the proper range it does get you on target for the longer shots. The Glass I very clear (It better look good at only 3x) But I was actually pleasantly surprised at the quality glass in this 110 dollar scope. The image is sharp and it is very easy to get proper eye relief (as you would expect from a 3x) I mounted this using Nikon P-Series Mounts, which brought the scope to the proper eye height for my AR-15 and allowed me to mount the scope back far enough to get proper eye relief. I rated it 4 stars because you are getting a fine little scope for the money, it seems well built and Things that I don't like about it may not be a problem to other people.

The knobs are very easy to adjust and have positive click stops
Being a long range shooter I was skeptical of the of a little 3 power scope. My experience was with scopes costing 10 - 20 times what they were asking for this little thing. But I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I was not expecting much having tried several other scopes in this price range and slightly above. I mounted it on an AR-15 I had recently built and took it to my range. I started out at 25 yards to sight it in and was surprised to see I was punching holes near the center of my target. The knobs are very easy to adjust and have positive click stops.I eventually moved my target out to 100 yards, but was not expecting how clear the glass would be. This is not US Optics quality, but it is pretty close and good enough for a garage built AR-15. This is by no means a 500 yard scope, even 400 or 300 yards would test its limits, but at 100 yards firing five rounds, I can punch a single hole in the center of a target the size of a dime with this little guy . I was completely blown away, I couldn't believe it was possible with only a 3x scope. I figured I just got lucky and my scope was the rare exception. So I sent away for another one. I removed the Burris 3-9x scope from another garage built AR, mounted my new scope and drove down to the range. Well what do you know, I've got to be the luckiest guy in the world. I now owned two exceptional Nikon P-223's. Well, long story short, I bought two more of these little guys and couldn't be happier. Within 30 miles of my home there are three rifle ranges, they are all 100 yards long. If I want to shoot longer I have to go to Sacramento, about 150 miles away. For the typical urban shooter this little scope is a real gem. Its plenty good enough for you to improve your shooting skills and won't set you back a week's pay like some of the premium scopes out there. So, bottom line, if you just want to get the oohs and aahs at the range for a scope costing more than a set of tires for your Lamborghini go buy a US Optics, Nightforce or Swarovski. If you just want to have fun and improve your shooting skills get one of these little scopes, you can't go wrong.
