Breathless Action
One thing I can say after having read a number of books in the series is that readers who want to settle comfortably in on a Friday evening for a good, leisurely read should stay away from them. The action is nonstop with twists, abrupt changes and misdirections that will keep you sitting up in your chair. It is impossible not to get caught up in the action and find yourself reading as fast as you can. One characteristic I've observed about these books is that there will be surprises lurking in every corner and it definitely isn't over until it's over. One disadvantage I've suffered is not reading the books in the correct order. Each builds upon the other and all of them taken as one volume would constitute an epic easily belonging in the company of 'The Sign of Four' and others by Conan Doyle. 'Red Leech' and 'Snakebite' here I come.

Another great book in the series
My grandson and I read this series of books together on FT --- we have tried many different books in the past. He either loves them and I loathe them or vice versa but this series of books we both look forward to reading together. I highly recommend the series as a great meeting point for varied generations.

Finished another one in one night!
Keep up the good work Mr. Lane, and I'll keep looking forward to reading your adventures! These works are not simple juvenile reads, but appeal to folks like me who pick up everything in print featuring Sherlock Holmes. There have been some misses, but not when penned by Andrew Lane.

Young Sherlock Holmes
I read as much as I can about Sherlock Holmes so these books about his youth are great for me. I don't mind when books are written by authors other than Doyle when they are well-written. This is a good book for adults and for youth that have an interest in this classic series.

Great Christmas Gift!
I've only glanced at a few pages since this is a Christmas present for my son. He's read other books in the series and loves them so I expect he'll be thrilled with this one.

A firestorm is coming........
This is the fourth in the Young Sherlock Holmes series.Holmes is growing up and beginning to rely on his own talents more. In this book he must save his friends, travel the length of the UK and almost die in order to survive. He rids his family of a great burden....OR DOES HE!!!......as he deals with Mrs. Eglantine..........but Holmes must now consider the issues in his own family and the demons he may have to fight within himself as he grows older and life becomes more difficult. He also begins to experience the evil that men do, often for no discernible reason......and the lack of morality which is an important part of the human condition.......Holmes must understand and expect this in others and in the society around him......This is a ripping adventure as Holmes struggles to support those around him and begins to lead them....I really enjoyed it....(......and remember always look at a persons shoes, they will tell you a lot about them.....a good tip from Conan Doyle.....)

Amazing
Even if you haven't read the sherlock holmns books I recommend you read these, a little easier to digest for the younger brain but no less awe-inspiring these books take from the original and try to create an early life for everyones favourite freelance detective. Even if you have read the original these still fit in seamlessly and could be taken as official lore. Either way I find them useful reference material for writing crime-fiction.

I was disappointed with this book as the cover varied from the one shown without being told it would. I purposely didn't pick a cheaper supplier as they stated the cover may vary. My son collects the set so he wanted the same cover for the series. On the positive side, the book arrived quickly and in perfect condition but I think they should have stated that the cover may be different. My son, who is 13 yrs old, enjoys these stories so great for boys around his age.

Just gets better
Exciting of itself, this series is setting the context of the original adult Holmes admirably. Recommended to readers of all ages, for if you are familiar with Sherlock Holmes at all, you will want to know how it all began, and if you are a young reader, this series will lead you into a lifelong fondness for all the adventures ever written, and perhaps still to be written.

Another Andrew Lane Hit
As a big Sherlock Holmes fan I can can highly recommend both the books and audiobooks of Andrew Lane. Fire Storm is the fourth audiobook (from the series of six books currently written) and it lives up to expectations and leaves me anxiously waiting for the Snake Bite audiobook. Brilliant!
