Best light for cross stitch ever!!!
I only hope there is enough space to say everything I like about this lamp. I was getting ready to order a famous name light that many stitchers use. One person here wrote that this light was so much better. I have purchased THREE other brand name lights. (One cost $500 and was supposedly the same that doctors use-it now sits at Goodwill). All of the others cost more than this light so if it hadn't been for the outstanding reviews I probably wouldn't have tried it. Yet I kept reading review after review of its excellence. It arrived today and I just assembled it and was blown away. I do intricate needlework and while I can see it without a magnifier, a magnifying lamp makes it so much easier. This lamp was so much brighter. It didn't have the annoying quarter size magnifier built into the lens like one of my other lamps which was always hard to avoid looking through. I love that it is so heavy. The others kept tipping over. One had to be attached to a table with a clamp and the clamp ruined my table and the light would not remain in position. I will follow up after I have used this a few weeks, but right now all I can say is "Wow! Where have you been all my life?" As another reviewer mentioned the cord attaches at the midpoint which I love. My other lamps attached at the base and often literally fell out of the connection. I am so excited to get back to my needlework. I had slacked off doing it because it was such a hassle to get the lamp positioned correctly. I wanted a floor model that would be easy to move from room to room. However, it is very heavy (compared to the others) so I will probably invest in another one or two rather than having to lift and move the lamp. If you are a 300 pound muscular bodybuilder this will be no problem for you, but if you are a frail person this might be too heavy to tote all over the house. The packaging was good but mine had a big hole in it. I didn't know if it was a refurbished product and the previous owner damaged the packaging, but I don't think so. I think it was just a case of rough handling by the post office. I was worried that the lamp would be damaged but it seems to work perfectly. If it doesn't I'll be sure to let you know. I plan to recommend this lamp to people in my FB stitching groups. The price is really great for the lamp that you receive. Hopefully the bulbs will last a few years because they can't be replaced. Again, thanks to all the reviewers who wrote such detailed, glowing reports which made me decide to take a chance on this lamp.

Excellent Customer Service
I’ve purchased four of these lamps, yes four! Two for my husband and two for friends to use for sewing. My husband is visually impaired and needs light and magnification to see photos on his phone and magazines. (No amount of magnification or light will help him with reading.) There have been many positive and negative reviews and I feel compelled to post this review. People complain they got a used light. Amazon gives the opportunity to choose from a list of resellers. Even if you start out choosing “New”, once you select an alternate seller, you could end up ordering a used item and not necessarily know it. “The base is heavily weighted” making it difficult to move for those with physical limitations. But the weight is necessary to keep the light stable. The oval base design can allow the light to tip if the gooseneck is not positioned correctly. We keep ours between the end table and sofa. We hold the neck at the connection to the pole with one hand and grasp the upper neck to bend it up and down. We found that doing this works best. Spinning the neck out of the way tends to move the base possibly making it unstable (less so on carpeting). Spinning can also loosen the connection between the neck and pole. (Tightening the knob stops the neck from spinning.) That said, the light/magnifier has been a godsend for my husband. The light is very bright and the magnification works extremely well. The head on one of our lights loosened and can be “wiggled” back and forth. I contacted customer support through the Brightech website. I received an almost immediate response. I was asking for advice on how to fix the problem, figuring they have a part I could purchase and replace. They asked for more specifics so I sent a brief video of the wiggle. From this, they asked for the ordering information to see if it was still under warranty. I was skeptical that the warranty would apply but they wrote back and asked for my shipping address! I was still within the three year warranty period. They sent me a new lamp/magnifier! Although this one lamp was not perfect the other three lamps purchased have no issues. If it hadn’t been under warranty I would have just put up with the wiggle. Customer service was spectacular! It was only 10 days from my first inquiry to receipt of the replacement lamp. I would definitely recommend Brightech and their products.

Almost Perfect!
Heavy base keeps the lamp secure and stable. Elevating pole makes height adjustment a breeze. Goose neck allows for great positioning of the light and magnifier for what I need. Mostly I use it for reading. The only thing that could be better is if the goose neck were 1 to 2 inches longer. This light solved so many of my problems and needs for light and magnification.

Great for cross stitching
I purchased this magnifying light so that I could continue cross stitching now that my eyes are aging. I have only had it a couple weeks now, but I am overall satisfied that I purchased this Brightech floor lamp. Pros-The size of the actual magnifier is 5 1/2 " x 4", which provides a good amount of my work in sight under the magnifier. I am very happy that I chose to purchase the magnifier with 2.25x magnification, giving me the ability to see the very small parts of my cross stitching. The light provides very good bright light. The flexible gooseneck holds in place well, although I wish it would lower just more slightly because I have the top pole adjusted as low as it will go and sitting in a chair, I have to raise my body just a bit to see through the magnifier. Cons-The assembly of this lamp was not smooth. The top and bottom pole are connected with a threaded knob and the holes did not align properly for this knob to be inserted. Luckily, my husband was able to fix this using his dremel tool. If he was not able to have done this, I would have had to return this lamp. I consider this a huge quality control issue. The lamp base is very heavy, which is good in that it keeps the lamp stable, but not easy to move around.

LOVE THIS!
This lamp is absolutely awesome for crochet projects. My vision started acting up just as I was embarking on Christmas project presents that involved black yarn. Yikes! I almost gave them up, but then I bought this, and it is like the sun has just come out! I can honestly say that this was my very best purchase this year. Everything is so clear, and nothing like what you get with the cheap plastic magnifiers which I tried first. My advice -- forget trying to save money here. Get the best light and the best magnifier you can get -- this one. You will be happy you did.

Convenience Wasn’t Convenient
Defective! I have one and wanted another for the other chair( mine) so found it online and ordered here. When it came in, wiring into the magnifying lighted part were not well protected when the light is manipulated in different positions. Ok, that is issue with design that CAN cause problems but I have had the first owned one for about ten years now with no problems of that kind, just replaced the power cord a few years back on Amazon. Now, onto my complaint and big problem I have today. I was unboxing that lamp and was wondering why on Earth it was in 3, yes 3 boxes? Well, getting into the original one became clear that it had been opened. So I was on notice that I needed to make sure everything was in there. I did, it did. Ok, going onto the return process! Easy? Yes, fast? Yes. But not a breathing thing human being to be had for two very minor questions that I still had to ask! Lovely. Apparently, it was an important question or two because the very next day after UPS picked up the lamp, at 8:30 A:M, Amazon DELIVERED IT RIGHT BACK TO ME AND POSTED ONTO MY ACCOUNT SAYING THAT THIS ORDER WAS EXCHANGED! Yes, I wanted an exchange, I really like the first lamp we bought about 10 or so years ago. Kinda waned to make the same the same type of purchase you know? We will have to wait until I am able to get around better and just shop the nearby stores for something that will work For me.

So far excellent!
Don’t know how I embroidered all these years without it. I was concerned as it said “frequently returned” but it is a sturdy lamp! Base is heavy. Perfect size for my recliner I sew in. The height is somewhat adjustable. Bends perfectly for my lap frames. Good light, good magnification. I got the higher magnification one. Love it!

This was what I needed
I’m 71 yrs. My eyes get tired, but I love cross-stitching. I need to sit and be comfortable, so I bought a 4” round magnifying, table clamp mag-light hoping I could keep going with my hobby. It was awkward and the lens was more of a strain on my eyes than no magnifying at all, the edges of the small glass, (plastic), were distorted unless you were zeroed in on the center, it almost made me dizzy keeping my work and my distance dead center. I opted to go for a larger lens made of glass and found this one. The large lens has no distortion, the whole area of the glass is clear, (huge plus), and the lamp flexes to exactly where I need it to be, (important for bodily comfort). I can even recline back and rest my head while I stitch away. I’m very pleased with this lamp. A lot of reviews say it’s too heavy and the neck that holds the lamp is hard to adjust, I found the neck to be easy enough to maneuver and I think the heavy base is a plus, (it’s not that heavy, but heavy enough to remain secure). The neck easily swivels away when I want to move it out of my way. I think the glass magnifier is also better than plastic lenses for long term use and visibility, which, for me is another reason this purchase was a good investment.

Great light
I used to slam for magnification and light for needle work. It’s a great lamp. It’s bright, and the light is very clear but not too too bright. The magnifier is excellent, very good quality. My only negative comment would be that the base is very heavy, which is a good thing, but you have to be careful when moving the top part of the light back-and-forth that it doesn’t come loose or unbalanced the base. I would say this is a good lamp, very good value. I highly recommend all the bright tech products I have. I have two of the clamp on magnifying lamps as well, and they are very good.

pricey but worth it
Other lamps were not as tall and most spun at the bottom making them unstable as they are not attached at the base-- This one one has excellent height --- just wish it had a dimmer as one does not always need the light that bright

Works good.
Product is fine. We had to supply better screws to attach base to rod. Otherwise this could have been a four star review.

Excellent value
I have now purchased 2 of these lights/magnifiers. One for me and one for a friend. If you do needle work, puzzles, or manicures, this is just the best thing to have. I find it is particularly useful as I like to do my needlework while watching the TV with my family. They like to watch TV with the lights lowered and I can still be near them and do my needlework/nails/puzzles without glaring them out! Love this lamp! The first one I ordered I have had for 4 or 5 years now and it has not let me down. The most recent one is only a few months old and although the box was damaged in shipping, the product was packed well enough to have survived without a blemish. Good produce, good value.
