Great book.
Amazing and inspiring story. Everyone needs to read it if you care about the human race or even if you just want to read about Rob's childhood adventures and the making of his documentary movie, Sharkwater.

some good stuff here
Some good stuff here when the author finally writes past his childhood. That part could've been shortened. I enjoyed how his life comes together from a love of nature and adventure. I wanted more action in more diving scenes. I learned a bit about a few things and was shocked how he almost got lost while diving in the Galapagos. It demonstrated how dangerous the sport is even for such a highly qualified diver. I also wanted more emotion ion Costa Rica when the locals got caught with shark fins. The few end chapters are calls to action to save the oceans. The Kindle price is quite expensive because the best part is his diving and photography which is about 2/3 of the book. Good on you, Rob. I love the ocean and snorkeling. Having 3 stars is an okay rating.

I've also watched the documentary Rob produced called Sharkwater ~ I highly recommended if you haven't seen it will enforce the content within this amazing book. This book is inspiring and shows you just what you can do with passion and drive. A pleasure

Everyone should read this
The book looks at Rob's journey to make the award winning film Sharkwater and the realisation that if we dont do something soon to stop the man made distruction of our eco-systems and save the apex preditor of the seas, it will be man that will need saving. It is a captivating read, written with passion and with a rallying call to action.

Some fear to love and others are born to turn fear into love!
When I purchased this book, I honestly did not know what to expect. Rob was the one that lit this spark inside of me and opened my eyes to fight for our oceans by protecting our planet and being a marine conservationist. From the moment where he was born, he was drawn to the ocean and connected with the creatures inside of the seas more than the humans on land. It does not do justice to just say that this book is incredibly detailed and well written for Rob deserves a more in-depth review than simple words.Rob Stewart, an aspiring filmmaker at that time, left home in his 20's with a burning desire in his heart; to save sharks. Being a scuba diver he noticed that his favorite creatures were disappearing in spots where there were hundreds, he only found a few. He had always wanted to pursue this dream but didn't quite know where to start. During a trip to the Galapagos, he witnessed the atrocities of long lining and it deeply affected him and he knew that he had to do something. He traveled for 4 months, filming the footage that was on his first documentary, Sharkwater...he had no money and no experience other than that of being a photography and risked it all to protect his favorite oceanic creature. During the making of this movie, he battled flesh-eating disease, the mafia, the corrupted governments involved in the illegal shark fin trade and endangered his life on many accounts to be able to share the hidden beauties of the seas with us but also all the wonders of the earth. Rob through sharing important issues in his movie, inspired a new generation of conservationists and activist who now fight for our oceans day and night...and this movement is growing each day. Many years following the release of sharkwater, he made a new documentary called, Revolution which is about saving the planet. He chose to ignore the symptom that everyone calls, climate change by focusing on the real issues that should be addressed which are almost endless but Rob gives us hope through this movie and tells us that we can be the change if we desire to save our world, we must work together! Shark water and Revolution are possibly the greatest documentaries that I have ever watched because they are raw and honest. I believe that Rob Stewart is one of few people that have inspired millions of people globally by fighting for sharks and our marine life, including our environment and although he passed away in a tragic accident recently, his legacy will live on through those who carry this passionate flame in their heart for saving our oceans! This book was touching, devastating, beautiful, hilarious. There is a part of the book that made me laugh so much, Rob was studying in Kenya and had to take this intense antimalaria treatment and the side effects were so bad that he would hallucinate many things like dozens of Lemurs looking at him while he was sleeping and it made his journey more colorful because 10 years after his trip, he still had visions. Through the words that explain how he fell in love with the oceans and animals, to stories of him jumping on an alligator...but not knowing how to get off...will give you the impression of how this kind hearted man really was as a person.I think that this book should be read by every single person out there even if you have no idea who Rob Stewart is and was, he will spark something in you and urge you to fight to preserve our animals and our environment. There is a little bit of everything in this book, and it is a story of a life well lived for a gentle soul who died at 37, and I believe that by looking back and reading this biography it helps activists everywhere find peace through the grief of losing him because he did so much and achieved a great deal in so little time. He is the only conservationist that managed to take the fear that people had about sharks and turned it into love. Society loving sharks is a movement that has hit the world and continues to touch people's heart each day.By reading this book it is your moral responsibility to do something!A big thank you to Rob Stewart for everything. RIP, brother!! xx
