Great quality sandwich maker
I am so excited to use this sandwich maker. I hate standing and making grilled cheese sandwiches. Now I can make hot sandwiches or pizza pockets galore! We had one when I was at home with my parents, but this is a nicer, more durable model. I am pleased to own it.

Ought to be rated a ZERO!!
This is a piece of JUNK sandwich maker. As the other review says - a total waste. It heats unevenly and the latch won't catch. I made one sandwich - it was overcooked on one side and not cooked at all on the other. The only good thing about it is that I bought it from Walmart - so hopefully returning it shouldn't be a problem. Just hate to send this to another hapless consumer of cheap Chinese trash. Really, the correct place to send this is back to China.

works great for gluten-free bread grilled cheese
I didn't pay for this, so I'm not as upset as the other reviewers. This was a gift from my sister to my son, for his dorm room. He moved back home, and I've been using this-WITHOUT it's manual-for a few days.If you've ever tried to make a grilled cheese sandwich with gluten-free bread the old fashioned way (on a skillet) then you know that the texture is crap, and it falls apart when you flip it.This maker squishes it together nicely, and makes you think you are eating regular bread. It WILL burn your bread if you leave it in too long. It's easy enough to peek. It grills FAST! It turns on as soon as it is plugged in.I move slow, so sometimes I pre-assemble my sandwich. But if you move fast, you can assemble it right on the pan. I put butter on the top side of bread, and it's oily enough for me. I generally put in two light layers of cheese, with a thick layer of sprouts and/or pickled jalapeno slices in between. The cheese melts into the bread, and everything holds together. Yes, I put sprouts on everything...since I recently learned how to make sprouts! It is small...it won't do big bread slices, unless you place the sandwich in the center...but you get an odd pattern.Press gently and slowly. it should close. If the sandwich is too thick, the lid won't close. No problem, it still grills it. If you want to make sure it sticks, just take it out and turn it over, OR wait a bit and SQUEEZE. I can't complain since it was free.Sometimes I spray oil on the non-stick surface first...but the cheese will melt and oil it naturally. There will be a pool of oil in the bottom. It works with or w/o oil or butter. Just depends on your taste. Butter is likely to burn a bit.I remove stuck cheese with a silicone spatula right away. When it cools, I wipe EVERYTHING with a napkin. I don't think my son did this when he owned it.btw, the silicone spat is handy for those times when you forget to put in the top layer of bread...If you don't have a kitchen, or are too impatient to wait for a skillet to heat up, or whatever, this is fine.Just remember to put in a top layer of bread.

Worst sandwich maker on the planet
This is the worst maker I have ever used. It cooks very unevenly to the point where your sandwich is burned towards the middle of the maker and cooked less than half on the outer edge of the maker. Very cheaply made, has to constantly keep heating and the lock is shady at best. I would never use this machine again. If I were you, I would stay away from these, they will only make you highly irritated.

Great value!
What a great sandwich maker..who would have known that it would perform so well considering the price. It is quick and easy, and a breeze to clean.
