I initially ordered this case as a replacement for my Otterbox. I’ve used Otterbox products as long as I’ve used iPhones, and each one ends its life with me in perfect condition. I was caught off guard when I received this case because I immediately realized it wasn’t made by Otterbox. Naming it Defender as well comes across as very deceiving. So that immediately turned me off. The price point is a few dollars less, but you can tell it’s not build with as quality materials as a true Otterbox. It is noticeably lighter, which some people may appreciate. This just makes me think cheap when it comes to products that are meant to be durable. I plan to hold onto it though. We’ll see how it fares over time.

Yes, it is not and Otterbox Defender. But why pay $45? For the price this works quite well. There are a number of previous complaints about there not being any directions. I see the problem if you are not familiar with the Defender. A set of instructions would be helpful. The outer rubberized protector is a covering for the inner hard plastic holder. It comes assembled. Roll your thumb across the screen protector. As you hit the rubberized part it will roll off. Remove the soft rubber section. Then unsnap the clips on the hard plastic case. Insert the phone and reverse the process.

Bulk packaging didn’t come with any directions so it took a bit to get the phone installed correctly. Overall a great case for the price!

Thought I was purchasing an Otter when the description said like a Defender, but it wasn't the Defender. It had nothing covering the face of the phone. What's the sense of having a cover for your phone if it doesn't cover the most breakable thing on it - the screen.

This is not an otter box. It’s a different material, it came in a blank ziplock, and it doesn’t have the branding where every other otter box does. Also, there is strange ridges that don’t line up with the phone so the fit is awkward.

This is a misleading product. It advertises itself and even steals the trademarked Defender name, but it’s definitely not. Don’t want to risk my phone without a case so I can’t send it back, but I’m definitely not happy with it.

This is NOT an Ottorbox case, got it as a replacement for my father’s case when he upgraded phones. I searched for Otterbox Defender series which is what his old phone had and was GREAT, this case feels flimsy, cheap, light, cheap packaging and just SCREAMS CHEAP. I am surprised this manufacturer has not been sued as both te likeness and model name has been clearly made to resemble and rip off an original Ottorbox product. Has been on phone for 1 day and rubber part already feels “stretched.” I feel like Amazon should step in here and shut down the type of sellers, otherwise it is almost as if Amazon was supporting their scam...not to mention that this case costs almost the exact same as a true Otterbox case!

Did not realize that this was not an otter box till I received it since I was in a hurry to purchase. Surprisingly looks identical to the otter box brand and after comparing it to one, seems to be built just as sturdy. Have had it for 1-2 months and all is well. The difference I noticed is that this one slips into your pocket a little easier. Rubber outside does not grip as much as the otter box brand. I really like it, especially for the price.
