Useless!!!!
This book's rating is ridiculous. I wanted current info on some modalities such as ultrasound and it goes on about other topics such as manual therapy, but not in-depth at all. Just little synopses of topics. This author has written topics in numerous areas and it seems she just reads literature and writes a little blurb about it without really knowing the realm of physical therapy that she is writing about. It is pretty useless unless you want easy CEU credits for an additional 30 or 40 bucks (I forgot how much). The info on ultrasound was about how it heals fractures in non-thermal settings but nowhere does it state the recommended settings, the timing of when ultrasound should be used for fractures (because it could be painful) and also... who actually uses ultrasound for fractures? I don't know any body who does that, and it's not in the realm of physical therapy to do that... Or is it? She doesn't even address that. The book is about 90 pages long with big lettering like if you're reading a remedial level book, and is full of pictures that is not pertinent to the topic at all. The tables are very simple, again, like if the audience were young teenagers. The pics are just fillers to make the book seem longer than it really is.Again, why is this a 4.9 out of 5 stars??? Are you kidding me? I usually don't return things because of the hassle, but I made sure I returned this piece of doodoo.

Modalities, modalities, modalities
Modalities are a staple in an outpatient clinic. I almost hesitated buying this book because of the bad review here. But the person might be reviewing another book. Even on the product description, it states 164 pages (not 90 pages). I even used the "look inside" feature of Amazon just to make sure :) Overall, it is a very good book and worth reading. Highly recommended.

Grades of evidence
I like how the book graded how effective each modality is. Obviously, it’s not a shocker for me that the modalities we use are only about grade C for back pain. Nice to know.

Evidence based!
This book does not explain how the modalities work. It does not go into detail what a piezoelectric crystal is. However, it details which modality best treats a particular condition based on evidence. I loved the ratings A,B, C… I can safely say that I can now explain to my patients why I choose a particular modality. Amazing, that some modalities I used were rated no benefit… Highly recommend.

You must read!!!
Most beneficial was review of Ultrasound use/parameters. Least beneficial would be the discussion on low level laser therapy as this is not typically used in most therapy settings. This book is great because it details which modalities are most effective for most common conditions.
