I really like this book
After recently giving birth to my son I have been looking for a great way to lose weight at a healthy rate. I got this book because I have heard a lot of good things about dieting based on your blood type. I thought there could be no harm in trying it. This book gives a lot of great information on what the diet is and why they are suggesting it. I really like that it even has a section about why people oppose the diet. It gives a lot of information around why and why not so that you can make your own decision. This book is specifically geared towards those with a blood type O, but it does explain the diet for different blood types. Then it has recipes for each blood type diet. The recipes are a little more complicated than some cook books but are very hearty. There are not a lot of recipes, but it gives you a good idea on where to start for the diet and how to maintain the weight loss. I have only been doing this for a couple of days and so far it seems good. I think everyone could benefit from this, but it can be frustrating if your family is all different blood types. O is the most common, but in our family there are a couple different ones so it does make it a little more difficult to do.Disclosure: I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review

Mainly Recipes, very little diet information
This is a really interesting concept that I heard about for the first time back in the '90's but never looked into. The author says the diet was created by a naturopathic physician and has gained in popularity over the last couple of decades. It is also stated that "there has been no actual scientific or medical research in depth to prove or disprove the theories that a person should stick with a particular diet based solely on their blood type. You can find plenty of support in the theory, just run an internet search..." so, Doctor Google? My interest in this diet is already waning. We start off with a little bio of each blood type, like a blood type personality and how it affects you. For type A (myself) it says I need to create a daily schedule, rest a little throughout the day and eat 5 small meals a day rather than 3 large. I agree with all of that, when I follow those guidelines my days are much less stressful and I feel better.Next is the diet information for each blood type. Type O has a decent bit of information but then when I got to A I was sad to see there were just a couple of short paragraphs. The information was also the exact opposite of how I have to eat for my body to function properly, maybe I am broken. I have ate the way this book recommends in the past, to the letter actually, and not only felt horrible but became very sick. After the short specifics for each blood type are recipes, the recipe sections seems to take up about 2/3 of the book from what I can tell on the browser reader. The recipes look good but are not really anything you could not put together yourself once you know how to eat for your blood type. I don't know if the recipes were created by the author or chosen due to ingredients matching the blood type diets but they did not appear to be special or different in any way.I was given this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

Not sure I WANTED to learn what I did here, but there are some good tips for anyone to try.
Saw this and was very curious to see what types of food would be recommended for my A- type blood. It's a fairly short (takes about an hour to read) book. This book covers A, O & AB. With obvious tips such as not smoking and drinking to excess, it says a healthy diet is a piece of the puzzle to good health. Not exactly breaking news.In a nut shell it says: Type O should eat diets rich in proteins and less in glutens like the stone-age ancestors ate. Type A should focus on grains and vegetarian type foods. Type AB should avoid legumes and certain grains and seeds.I wish I was type O since it says they make terrible vegetarians, something I could NEVER be. It says for Type A (me) to avoid dairy and red meat, and to eat foods raw and unprocessed. Avoid animal proteins and instead eat nuts, legumes, seeds and tofu. Probably won't work to well for me as I live on a cattle ranch and we eat a lot of animal proteins, cooked. It has many recipes for each type to try. For example since Type O should not eat gluten, the sugar cookie recipe is made with rice four, arrowroot flour, etc. Not that hard to find these days. Note, there isn't any sugar (none) in the Sugar cookies. The ginger spice cookies are made with almond meal and rice four, but do look like they might be good. There is a section for bread and rolls, again with substitutions to avoid the gluten. Other main and side dishes included. For Type A the first recipe is a Sardine Salad Spread (for crackers or bread.) The two cans of sardines made me stop reading that one!! The Blue-Cranberry Muffins look very good with substations of sugar for honey type stuff, I might try those. The fudge cookies however are using carob powder, something I'm not a fan of, so stopped reading that one too. The recipes redeemed themselves a little. The buttermilk biscuit recipe is a basic "normal" biscuit recipe, nice to see. The Italian Chicken Breasts look good. For Type B recipes they start with sweet potato chips that look good. Turkey meatballs, chocolate chip cookies with actual chocolate (not the carob powder), CranNut Cake looks good if I can figure out what ghee is. Chicken friend steak, steak and mushrooms, italian meatballs, etc.So all in all, not sure if I WANT to like what this book says? What I mean is I don't want to be told I should become a carob loving vegetarian, nor will it happen, so it makes it hard for me to keep a positive look. But another way to look at it is that there are some good looking recipes with rather simple exchanges (honey for sugar for example) that would definitely make the food healthier that I am bound and determined to eat whether they are my type or not. I did receive this book free in exchange for an honest opinion.
