Rapiddominance Classic Military Messenger Bags

I used to use a backpack on my daily bicycle commute to work; unfortunately I was struck by an impatient mom in a minivan. One fractured humerus and elbow later my physical therapist informed me that I could not wear a backpack until I had progressed further in my recovery. I asked him if I could use a messenger bag for my new commute by bus, he said yes. So my search began for a suitable replacement. One of the reasons that I love Amazon is the REVIEWS. Since I am now crippled and did not feel like going to the mall I logged into my account and started reading. The Rapiddominance Classic Military Messenger Bags, Khaki had the best reviews so I went ahead and ordered it. It is sort of an unknown when ordering something online but the reviewers gave consistently good reviews and Amazon has a great return policy so I had nothing to lose. I received the bag on time. Once I opened up the box I knew I had made a good purchase. The bag is lightweight compared to leather and it is very well constructed. I chose khaki because I feel like it is more stylish than black and black would fade. Khaki will show dirt more readily but a quick trip through the washer should restore the bag to like new appearance. The main compartment is roomy enough for my Pyrex glass container for my lunch to heat up at chowtime. Next to it I loaded it with 2 small clear plastic organizers for my daily doodads. Finally there is room for my Acer 8" Windows Tablet [purchased from Amazon :) ] It is lined with polyester and has a zippered compartment for documents. The bag has 2 front zippered compartments that catch the rest of my daily necessities such as USB hard drive, AC adapters, my wallet so no one can pinch it out of my back pocket while on the bus, snacks, etc. The large front flap covers both compartments for added security plus it makes the bag look sleek and stylish. This is secured by Velcro and has 2 pull loops on the outside to break loose the Velcro. On either end are 2 compartments for water bottles. I use only one for my stainless steel water bottle. There is a large compartment on the back that is suitable for a few documents that is secured by Velcro. The carrying strap is long and wide enough to fit comfortably over my good shoulder and clear my arm sling on my injured side. I attached a large carabiner clip to hold my cane while on the bus. All in all this is a very good bag that fits my needs exactly. Way to go Rapiddominance!

I had tried looking in army/navy surplus stores for a cross-body bag that was ample size to fit my stuff (see below), looked good, was without insignia and could carry water bottles/travel mugs. I wasn't able to find anything in stores that suited my needs, but I did find several product numbers which led me to this bag. This is a great bag size wise and looks great too. I had originally purchase the departure bag by Rothco, based on the size description (about 9x12x4) and that looked like a purse on me. I'm not a big guy, but man, that little bag was just that, little. So I had to go back and revise my size requirements. The Rapid Dominance bag really fits the bill. The large interior pocket fits normal sized A4 paper and file folders, my umbrella, a collapsible grocery bag (one of those nylon compression ones that packs into itself) and several moleskine classic sized notbooks with ample room to spare. There is a small interior zippered pocket as well that hold my keys and other valuables. The main compartment has a zippered closure that really makes me more confident that my stuff won't spill out if/when the bag gets tipped over. The two front pockets hold all my loose stuff, pens, dry erase markers, one USB to outlet adapter, two charge cords, a reusable coffee sleeve, REI multi-tool, small bottle of Aleeve, and sunglasses. There is room for more stuff, but with the narrower zippered opening it's a bit hard to get my hand in there and fish around for what I need. I am going to get some pouches to organize my stuff, but for now, this still works great. The back hook and loop closure pocket holds my orignal kindle (standing up on end only a little bit pokes out the top) as well as another pen and notebook for easy access. The two side pockets hold quite a bit, I can fit a 27oz Klean Kanteen in one pocket and a travel coffee mug (this one: http://www.amazon.com/Design-For-Living-Reusable-Double-Wall/dp/B004A8JKK4/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1365613480&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=dfl+coffee+mug). Putting anything in the side pockets does infringe on the interior space, but there is still plenty of room for papers and whatnot. When not being used there are snap closures for each pocket, which I never use. The flap secures to the front of the bag via hook and loop which is fine, I would prefer a button or clasp closure, but if I were so inclined I could just sew those onto the bag. The flap is actually double layer canvas with two loops on the front to affix things. I am using it to hold my bag swag right now (a carabiner looped sideways and hooked to a paracord survival bracelet). The only complaint I have is that I can see the canvas of the two front pockets pilling a bit where I have rubbed the rough side of the hook and loop closure against the canvas. The two inch shoulder strap feels rugged and helps alleviate pressure when carrying heavy loads. Overall I feel like this bag is going to last a long time and I'm excited to have it!

I got this with the intent to use it as a combined laptop bag and purse (to avoid carrying two bags everywhere), and so far it has worked pretty well. -Inside Pockets- There is one roomy interior compartment that easily fits my 15" laptop and a variety of other items (charging cable, travel mouse, tablet, my checkbook wallet). It probably won't fit a laptop much (if any) larger than that, because the zip closure at the top is just a little smaller than the interior pocket, so you have to angle the laptop just a little to get it in (if you have one of those tiny USB extensions for a travel mouse that are flush to the laptop -- the kind that are meant to stay in the USB port at all times -- beware that it can hang on the zipper and get yanked out if you aren't careful about sliding your laptop in). I could pack a lot more items into this compartment than I have been, as it is quite decently sized. There is no included liner for a laptop or tablet. There is also a zippered pocket on the back interior of the bag that is deep enough to hold a small makeup bag with the barest of female essentials (pads and tampons, lipstick, powder, a travel hairbrush), but not much else. I feel like this pocket would be more useful if it was a lot larger. It strikes me as a place you're meant to toss extra keys or change, but there is a lot of wasted interior space (if you're like me, anyway, and don't like everything rattling around loose in your bag). -Outside Pockets- There are two very roomy, zippered bubble pockets on the front, that are revealed when the purse flap is pulled up (as if you are accessing the main compartment). These are fantastic and massively proportioned (I typically keep my smartphone, glasses case, a pistol, a full-size multitool, and a variety of other items in the pockets, with room to spare). On each end is a pocket that is probably meant for a water bottle, but they are built so flush with the bag that, when a laptop is inside the main compartment, it doesn't allow for anything rounded to fit. I feel like this is a poorly designed part of this bag -- these pockets really should have bubbled out like the front two, so you could stick a water bottle in it when there is something wide on the inside. As it is, I use one side to store a knife and taser, and the other side to store clipped pens. The pockets are deep, but they are so flat that they are really not good for much else. Curiously, inside each of these pockets (maybe 1/3 the way down, on the wall connected to the main interior compartment of the bag) is a canvas loop with the male part of a snap button stitched onto the outside of the loop. The female part of the snap is on the opposite wall. They are so far down that I can't imagine they are meant to close these pockets, and I really have no idea what they are useful for. Because the bag lacks any decent place you can clip keys to (if you use a carabiner or eye bolt snap key hook), I just attached a large split ring to one of these loops and am using it for my key snap place instead. Keeps the keys from falling down into the depths of the pocket, but hides them from view. On the back, accessible when the flap is closed, is a long, flat pocket that runs flush with the length of the back of the purse. Because I carry my laptop in the main interior compartment, this keeps this pocket pretty flat, so it is only useful to me for a legal pad, or as an occasional place to quickly stuff my tablet. -Construction- The outside flap is very large, and has velcro hooks on the underside. One large velcro loop pad is on the middle of each exterior bubble pocket, to catch the flap at a variety of bag widths (so if it's very full, you can still close it). The strap is wide and heavy, sewn to the bag at one end and attached via a brass buckle at the other end. It is a long enough strap that it is adjustable to suit any torso size, to lay along the body at whatever height is preferred (thigh, hip, waist, right up under your arm, whatever). The outside is heavy olive green cotton canvas, the inside lining is polyester in the same color. Both are very durably made. Heavy stitching, heavy fabric, heavy zippers. I've been tossing this thing around for over a month with nary even the slightest signs of wear. There are a couple places that had flyaway threads, but that's just from not cutting them off closely enough during the sewing process, and a pair of scissors fixed that right up. -Complaints- I really wish there was some kind of key ring stitched into the main interior compartment. There is enough room at the top edge for it. Alternately, it could go under the large main flap somewhere, or on one side above the water bottle pockets. I'm considering adding this myself. The outside side pockets aren't quite wide enough for a 20 oz water bottle to be inserted into if a 15" laptop is on the inside (this, in my opinion, is the only major failure of the bag). The loops and snap buttons inside them are a little odd, but useful if you improvise. The zippered pocket inside the main interior compartment is too small to be useful to me. It could be improved either by making it larger, or by including two side-by-side interior pockets of the same size, rather than the one in the middle. There is plenty of room for it. -Overall- Large, durable bag. It isn't really designed to carry a laptop, but it'll tide me over until I find something that's perfect. For people who don't carry a lot of stuff, or who have a smaller laptop (like a netbook, or combined tablet/keyboard), this is probably as close to the ideal as you can get in this price range.

I was looking for a new bag to carry my art/urban sketching supplies. I originally purchased the Rothco Ammo bag but outgrew this and was looking for something bigger but still similar in style. This bag fit the bill. It also is lined (which gives it some structure) and has great pockets! Large and roomy, one on the back to carry an ipad or small laptop, two big pockets in the front and two pockets for water bottles on either side of the bag. The Ammo bag I had, was not lined, it was only one layer and I had to cut a cardboard strip to give it some structure on the bottom. It had 2 small pockets in front but no other pockets. This bag is very soft, cotton canvas but sturdy. The bag was put together and sewn well and I can see it will last a long time. The straps are also comfortable to wear on the shoulder or cross-body, they are made of cotton instead of nylon. My only gripe are the zippers. Both outside pockets in front do not zip close and I had a little trouble with the large zipper in the main compartment too. I was able to get the large compartment to zip properly in the end. Unfortunately, the two outside pockets are another story. It's unfortunate that where they chose to place/sew the zippers on these pockets, they cut the end where the zipper stops. This may be one factor the zipper can't grip the two strips of teeth and get them to join. The 2nd factor could be a loose slider. I tried clamping the slider as it might have widened or perhaps it was wide to begin with. Still no success in getting those zippers to close. It might have been better to just sew flaps on the top and secure with velcro to keep the pocket closed. I love the size and the quality of this bag so much, I am going to keep it anyway.

Absolutely love this bag! I don't typically like messenger bags, since the front flap seems to annoy me. So I used a seam ripper and removed the front flap and velcro from the front pockets. Didn't do any damage to the bag and makes it more functional for my uses. I've used this as a purse, travel bag, and laptop bag (for smaller laptops like Macbooks). When traveling, I load it up with lots of stuff. Back pocket holds a Kindle, travel documents, itineraries, maps, brochures, etc. Side pockets are capable of holding large bottles of water. Zipped front pockets hold keys, receipts, medications, tissues, and small items I need to get to quickly. The inside is large and open, so I can throw everything else in there (including small to medium sized items I've purchased). I normally put my wallet and passports inside the small zipped pocket inside the zipped main compartment (so it is safer from pickpockets or accidentally falling out when I retrieve other items). I really love that the bag holds so much stuff, yet is not stiff or bulky. The strap length is adjustable enough that I can wear it crossbody when I want to. It's also masculine enough that I can have my husband carry it if my shoulder gets tired. It washes up very well in the washing machine. Besides the color becoming a little more distressed looking (which is a good thing), it has no signs of wear after 3 years of use. Update: Still going strong after more than 5 years. Update #2: Looking a little more distressed, but I'm using it daily 7 years later.

As the trend in computing electronics continues to move towards smaller components, I was in need of a smaller bag to carry my camera, tablet and light windbreaker (things I take with me to work every day). I no longer needed a larger bag or laptop backpack to carry these and other items in because most of my computing needs could now be addressed on my tablet (as I didn't have to lug around a 14" netbook). Thus, I began looking for a replacement bag and stumbled across this one. It was smaller than my previous bag and backpack and after reading reviews from other purchasers, I decided to take a chance (since it was under $30) and boy did I make the right decision! I LOVE THIS BAG!!! My only complaint is that I wish the large inner compartment was divided, but I make do. The material is sturdy and the bag is light. And I also discovered what the button snaps are for in the side pockets (which seemed to baffle other owners) -- they're to secure something that you place in the pocket so that it doesn't fall out! Its not to secure a waterbottle like some people thought. I keep my wallet in the side pocket next to my chest as I'm walking and know it won't fall out or be pickpocketed because the button snap secures the wallet in the pocket. This is a great feature when using public transportation, as it gives easy and instant access to your wallet or train pass and then you can easily put it away securely when you're done. I've had the bag for over a month now and have had no issues with it and have no complaints other than wishing the roomy inside space was divided (but that is not a deal breaker whatsoever); but other than that, its perfect and I take with me every day, Tablet, Phone, Lumix Camera, Keyboard for the tablet and they all easily fit in the large inner pocket (which is also zippered for more security) and I even have room for my small lunchbag for when I do take a lunch. The velcro flap is secure and provides easy access to the pair of zippered pockets on the external side, and I keep a large portable battery for my phone and assorted cables in one pocket, and a 1TB portable disk drive and assorted cables in the other. If you're looking for a smaller, study and functional messenger bag, this the one to get!.

This is a great bag for a low price. I use it when I ride the bus & light rail to work and it's comfortable to wear even when fully loaded. I've only had mine for a couple of months but I can tell it will last a long time - the canvas, hardware and stitching are all heavy duty and free from any sign of manufacturing defects. It's held up well in the rain as well - the outside gets pretty wet, but so far even walking a mile in a downpour all contents (except anything exposed in the side pockets) have stayed dry, and it dries quickly with no special treatment. I use the canvas padfolio included by the seller to keep the back rigid so the other contents don't shift when I'm walking a long way. The only drawback is I wish it had a pad for the strap - it's comfortable enough over my winter jacket, but I think it might dig into my shoulder when I'm wearing lighter summer clothes if it's loaded up with a lot of stuff. But it's so inexpensive and I know I'll get enough use out of it that this isn't a big deal, it's worth buying a shoulder pad if I do end up needing one. **I'm editing to add that I've now carried it plenty of times over just a thin T-shirt and it's not at all uncomfortable without a shoulder pad, even when heavily loaded. And after months of carrying it everywhere rain or shine it still shows zero signs of wear & tear. It also arrived very quickly - I chose the standard free shipping which I thought would take at least 5 days given it ships from the other side of the U.S., but the seller shipped it 2-day and even included a free canvas padfolio, a nice one too that matches the quality of the bag. I would definitely order from them again.

Compared with a timbuk2, this is more comfortable, much less expensive, and frankly far better looking. In terms of durability, I see a small amount of fuzzing of the canvas in high wear areas, but that's expected and adds to the appeal of the bag. The water bottle pouch is large enough to fit a 32oz Nalgene. The front pockets are large enough to fit a macbook pro charger. Compared to the rothco, this has an interior polyester lining which increases it's lifespan and weight, and possibly protects the interior from rain. I believe the rothco does not have the lining. There is also a zipper (not waterproof) on top to keep out dust and raindrops. I've used it in a drizzle and the interior was clean. Compared to a usual north face backpack, this may not be quite as comfortable, but it's far easier to access, and significantly more fashionable. The interior is perhaps not as spacious, but more well-suited for a couple of books, a binder and a laptop. As for the laptop, I can fit a 13 inch macbook pro inside (I use a neoprene sleeve to protect it since the bag itself has no sleeve for the laptop). It would be hard to fit a 15 inch laptop with the waterbottle, but if you dont carry bottles, it's possible. I'm ok with the protection from the neoprene sleeve. I can fit a timbuk2 snoop camera insert medium size, which converts the bag to a full scale padded camera bag. It looks more unassuming than the colorful timbuk2 bags, and feels a lot more natural to touch. I highly recommend the $30 snoop insert if you are a photographer. I currently have a D80, a Tokina 11-16 f2.8, a Nikkor 35 f1.8, and a Nikkor 70-300 f/3.5-5.6 VR inside, and I can carry it everywhere I go. I use it everyday to go to university. Couldn't ask for anything more. If it rips, I'll buy another.

Esta bastante bien, parece sólida y cumple. Lo único malo que le veo es que es mas grande de lo que esperaba por fuera, y por dentro hay menos espacio de lo que parece, no lo aprovecha todo lo que podría. Aún así no es exagerado y es cómoda.
