LOVE THIS PRODUCT!
I wish they had 6 stars! I read all the reviews and was looking for an outdoor option around our pool and spa. This thing is a perfect hit. All our friends are surprised by the quality sound and it can play loud without distortion. I haven't used it with batteries yet, so I can't comment on that sorry. However I have even brought it inside when we are using our big sound system for sports but want some music at the bar. LOVE IT, would buy again. It is attractive, sturdy and compact enough to either use as a centerpiece or off to the side.

Outdoor speaker
This outdoor speaker works well, but has some issues with interference from other electrical devices causing a crackling sound on occasions, regardless of channel selection. The light is a unique feature.

We purchased this product for a Christmas gift, and now that the weather is nice and we want to use it by the pool, the real test is as noted. The disappointment has set in. It has a very loud crackling sound to it. It does not matter what phone/ipod device you use as well as a computer. I have emailed the company to see about a refund or exchange. Certainly not worth the money 163.00

it has some issues..
wireless pops like everyone says, which wouldnt be so bad if the aux port on the bottom accepted cables other than the one included. i wanted to use a longer one, but found that if it wasnt a right angle end, the ground would jam the jack up into the unit (which could easily damage it over time). even when i bought a right angle ended cable, the depth of the socket was apparently too deep for my new cable to engage. how hard really would it have been to design a port that would allow us to use any aux in cable? for all the good design i see in this product, the lack of foresight on these issues makes this speaker kind of a disappointment, even if it does sound good.

Great product but could be more
Note: Don't worry too much about people complaining about the static on the connection. That can be eliminated by pumping up the volume on the transmitting device. The more power (aka volume) the transmitter has the easier it is for the speaker to pick up the signal. You should use the bass boast at all times. The light is a nice touch.Pros: The volume and quality from the transmitter vs plugged in are almost equal so that's a huge plus. The light is nice and the speaker is surprisingly light considering it has 8 D batteries and its size. It is not as loud as some other speakers but the sound is good throughout the volume range. It is best used fairly close tho where you want the sound to dominate; being very portable that should not be a problem. The speaker construction is solid and is obviously well built.Cons: I gave it four stars because considering its price point and its manufacturer I fell it should have a battery chagrining circuit built into the speaker so you can load up rechargeable d cells and then only need to plug into the wall to charge. The battery cover uses screws to open and close so while it is water tight it is very annoying to open repeatedly. Wing screws would have been a better choice.Total: It is a good buy at about $140 I would say. It is a solid, nice sounding speaker you don't have to worry about if it starts raining.

This works and sounds great.
This is the second one we have purchased, one in the Brookstone store and one via Amazon. We keep one in the house and take it outside when at the pool; the second I keep in the workshop so I can have tunes when futzing. Sound quality is top notch. You will not be disappointed. Price is about right when compared with other units offering the same capability. My only suggestion to Brookstone would be to add a remote control for on/off and volume.

I'd like it much better if it didn't buzz and had more volume. Brookstone was quite good about refunding, so I have no problem with them. I would have accepted a replacement, had I the time.

Do NOT waste your money
This product is terrrible. It sounds like an old AM radio, full of static and not much else. The previous model works considerably better than this over-priced doorstop. Will be returning this junk.
