Rikagaku Dustless Chalk Holder (DC-CH) 2 set

This guy has exactly one feature for me: I use Hagoromo Fulltouch chalk which is a little bit thicker than standard chalk and this is the only chalk holder I've ever found which is big enough to fit the larger chalk. I have been searching for a long time for such a chalk holder.Do not buy this expecting it to fit standard chalk. Standard chalk doesn't fit. This will only work for larger-diameter chalk.There is a spring inside which gives a little force to the chalk coming out of the holder. This is fine, I guess, but it surprised me the first time and my chalk shot out a little and broke.

This holder is perfect for Japanese-style chalk like Hagoromo or Rikagaku. Don't buy this if you're using typical American chalkboard chalk. American chalk is typically has a smaller diameter and will fall out of this kind of holder. That aside, this is a great product for its intended use. The magnet in the clip is weak enough to be pulled off the board without any additional effort, but just strong enough to stay put when left there. The spring mechanism is very powerful and takes some getting used to (i.e. getting hit in the face by a projectile chalk stick once or twice), but otherwise is perfectly functional.

One of the only chalk holders that supports larger-diameter Japanese chalk. Do not use with traditional American chalk.The plastic is nice because it will not scratch your board. The cap is nice because it has a strong magnet (protected by the plastic) on it.Minus one star because the chalk does tend to slip into the barrel when writing, because the hold on the chalk isn't sufficient. More friction would ameliorate this issue probably.

This is a nice idea, but may not be necessary if you use dustless chalk.

I love this chalk holder! It is much better than a typical chalk holder that you have to stuff the chalk into. You depress the button at the end (like a mechanical pencil), and it opens up to allow the chalk to be inserted, adjusted, or removed. Just a note: This is for Japanese dustless chalk which is quite a bit thicker than regular chalk.

These work perfectly with HAGOROMO Fulltouch Luminous Color chalk and are half the price of the branded HAGOROMO holder.

This is great for people (like me) who hate touching chalk with their bare hands. Only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 is because it does keep getting pushed back into the holder as you write, unless you write very lightly (which I don't). Still, it's really easy to readjust it, but you might have to do it often during lectures if you're writing on the board a lot and write with higher pressure.

I have been looking all over for something that will take Mungyo oil pastels for art. I have ordered many different holders and NONE of them will hold a chalk/pastel that is approximately 11 mm. wide. I have found holders that were too big or too small, but never the correct size. This holder WILL take these pastels and hold them securely. So if you are looking for something to hold these particular pastels and a larger width chalk, then you found it. As for how long this will last, it remains to be seen.

for the serious blackboard worker, this is the best chalkholder for the best Japanese chalks. Be careful about sizes - the slight differences in chalk diameter mean that you have to fit the chalkholder to the chalk carefully, but for those dream-like good Japanese chalks, this is by far the best and affordable chalk holder. Buy two so when a colleague steals one from you, you will have a reserve to use until the next one(s) arrive. And don't let colleagues near your desk because they will steal your chalk and your chalkholder. Trust me, they will.And since you will keep this in a jacket or trouser pocket or your purse, you will come to appreciate the cap, too.

fits standard chalk very well, works well, high quality.

I'm a lecturer and use coloured chalk quite regularly; I use Hagoromo for its high quality. I use these holders to prevent them from rubbing against each other and creating dust / breaking / etc. These are also great for the hands b/c Hagoromo is very pigmented and stains my skin. I just throw all the holders in a pencil case and I'm ready to go.The only recommendation I would make to purchasers is to take out the springs. When you go to advance the chalk in the holder, if you're not stopping the front with your other hand, the chalk will literally launch out of the holder and fly away. I had two sticks of chalk shatter this way. I removed the springs and just tilt to slide the chalk forward, and I'm perfectly happy. (note: removing the spring doesn't affect the "locking" mechanism; there are two springs inside: one inside the back button, so that the holder only releases the chalk when you press it - this spring is inaccessible, and another one that's supposed to automatically advance the chalk once you press the button. It's this latter spring that I recommend removing.) Removing the spring is not hard; just reach into the barrel with a tweezer before you load any chalk in, and pull it out.

these are great, bought a second one.keeps chalk relatively dry when outside, been dropped many times and though the chalk breaks, the holder didn't :Pjust wish i could buy a big box of chalk for this rather than the little pack that is on offer too.

初めはキャップ必要ないかなと思っていましたが、強力磁石がキャップについているので、常にボタン側にかぶせておくと黒板に貼って待機状態にできるので便利。チョークが短くなった時だけ、キャップを外してボタンを押して伸ばすようにしてます。あまり不便は感じません。教室を移動するときには、チョーク側にキャップをはめれば、他の物を汚すこともないので、ついててよかったと感じました。はじめはチョークのホールド感が弱く、引っ込みがちだと思っていましたが、引っ込むような筆圧だと、チョークがすぐかけるので、筆圧が強すぎだと思い弱めにしたところ、チョークのかけもほとんどなく、それだとまず引っ込むことがなくなりました。チョークは日本理科学のダストレスを使ってます。チョークに触れる時間が長いと、指先のひび割れがひどくなるので、このホルダーを使うようになってからほとんどひび割れもなく、助かってます。
