Killjoys: The Seven Deadly Sins

I have had such a boggled mind, always faithful in devouring God's Word but never able to articulate it. I felt there was a barrier, that God was only allowing me to have a little. He has warned me about seeking Him more than just devouring a book. He has really showed me the magnitude of my pride but also how this has fed my greed and lust and gluttony. Ugh! What a wretch am I! I feel overwhelmed and yet completely empowered. I feel it is His light that will lift that barrier but only as I get my desires out of the way and seek Him with all of my heart. Thank you Desiring God ministries! Much of Piper's teaching is over my head but each chapter in this book is written by a different author.

This is a great book to read. After reading it I was ready to read it again. Which I will. I suggest that everyone who has this book read it again and tell others about it. I'm glad that I read chapter 8 alone. The acronym made sense to me and I was able to seeclearly what I should do.Thank you for taking the time to write this book.I thank God for giving me the desire to read this now.God bless you

I bought the book because I thought I need help with one of the sins. But after reading through, the book helped me to see the pervasive existences of the other sins in my life. The book also shows that ultimately it's God's love and his mercy that will save us from these sins.

Very good read. Good personification of the seven deadly sins with good quotations from the bible. Feels almost like a Final thesis paper, without boring you to death. Definitely worth the $2.99 on the kindle. I can see myself reading this book from time to time, just to refresh my ideology of its content. Took me approximately 2 nights (4 hours) to finish it, so it's a relatively short read. I read at an average speed, but the terminology is very simple to understand, even when I'm 80% awake.

Just read the sample, you will be hooked. I started the introduction and before long found myself halfway through the study. Well worth your time and money. Great expositions on the roots of our most deadly temptations and weaknesses. I will revisit the practical insights of each individual study again and again.

Great book. It pointed out some sins or issue that I thought I didn't have. One is gluttony. If you love FOOD more than God then it is a sin. We seem to associate gluttony with just overeating, but goes beyond. Great revelation

If you’re one of those people like me who think “I’m good now, I don’t do those things I used to, God and I are good.” Do yourself a favor and read this.

I have read this book 3 times now and know I will continue to go back and read it again and again to help me grow in my walk.

This book is excellent. It is really clear and simple to follow and understand, in explaining the root of key sins like pride, greed & anger. Each chapter takes a separate sin, explains the behaviour, the root cause, scriptural references, and a detailed process to deal with fighting the sin effectively. It is a compassionate and practical book, not mincing its words but yet understanding the great difficulty we all at times face in killing certain sins in our lives. It teaches us to replace the false promises of each sin with the guaranteed promises of the opposite virtues and of Christ. It challenges me to think about what I REALLY believe and why? Highly highly recommended.

Really good book, well written and easy to read. Opens up the seven deadly sins onto a different level and makes you realise that at some level we are all guilty. A book that I will keep in my library for future reference.

What a book! It literally opened up my spiritual eyes to see what sin and unrighteousness are all about! Rebellion against the will of God!Definitely, the Holy Spirit lead me to this book and I thank him for that. I recommend this book to anyone plagued with any of these sins in order for them to see what harm they bring on themselves and hopefully repent from them as soon as possible.I pray that blood of Jesus will not be in vain in our lives. Amen!

Very good read addressing the root, battle, and “cure” (for lack of a better word) for sin. Very eye opening book I recommend. Not condemning, but edifying- I have come seated more aware of my need for Christ.
