Palm Black Inductive Battery Door Touchstone Charging Dock Back Cover for Palm Pixi and Palm Pixi Plus

I bought the touchstone cover because the original cover that came with my Palm Pixi just completely fell apart and it seemed like a cool concept. Naturally, before I purchased the cover from Amazon I read the reviews. Most of them gave it two or three stars but I figured it was only $4.xx so what-the-hay. It arrived very quickly and I noticed immediately that it was a much sturdier cover than the old one. So I strapped it on the old thing and it gave the apperance that I had just purchased a new phone. Now, because I read the reviews I was forewarned that the magnet on the charge flap was a "piece", so when the magnet fell off in week three it wasn't much of a suprise. Luckily, I saw the magnet when it did come out and I just used some good-ole 'Loctite Super-Glue' and glued that thing right back into place. It's been six months since then and I've had no more problems. Pretty solid product for the price in my humble opinion.

I just got my touchstone cover today. I bought my slightly used palm pixi plus online here on amazon and they delivered quickly and in very good condition. But the back cover that shipped with the palm pixi had obviously been a bit damaged on the side, and it stuck out. So I decided to get the touchstone cover and charger, cause I thought it was kinda a neat thing.And I was right, I love how easy it is to charge on the touchstone dock and the touchstone cover is alot better than the original one that comes with the phone. I am now completely satisfied with my phone and the way i'm able to charge is really great too. I can't even tell you how much my old cover bothered me but now it's all good. I recommend the touchstone cover and charger for palm pixi, even if your pixi works just fine with the original charger, this is a rather fun and more efficient way to charge and it's always good to have an extra charger.

I still have not upgraded my Palm Pixi to a new phone because I haven't seen anything out there that packs so much punch for the size. It slips easily in my front pocket and is super thin and light. The only problem I have had is that the rubber/plastic cover only lasts about 3 months before it starts to break down. I have had to buy 3 or 4 per year. The last time I decided to spend a few dollars more and get the Touchstone cover, even though I don't have a Touchstone charging dock. This cover is much more durable than the stock rubber/plastic ones. I'm not sure what material it is, but I believe it is going to go the distance and I am very happy with it. And, if my USB charger part ever decides to die I'll just need to buy a Touchstone charging dock and I'm back in business.

This review has nothing to do with the seller. My product was delivered on time and in the condition it was stated to have been in. The product however is garbage. The whole reason i needed to replace the cover to my palm pixi was because the charger jack cover was broken. I would say within a week it was broken again in the same fashion as the one i needed to replace. The magnet that holds the flap to the phone broke off of the flap and now the flap just hangs there uselessly. I would not suggest anyone get this phone. There is absolutely nothing worthwhile about this product.

Charging my Pixi was a pain until I got this because the little door over the port likes to very quickly snap back into place before you get the charger plugged in. It's not hard to hold it open, but if you have big, clumsy fingers like mine, it can take a few tries. Not to mention the magnet on the door isn't secured very well and fell off as a result of opening and closing the door often (as this phone needs to be re-charged almost contantly). Losing the magnet off my first cover is really what prompted me to get the Touchstone in the first place. After the magnet was gone, the door wouldn't stay closed and eventually the rubber started to separate from the cover, requiring a new back. I figured I'd go ahead and spring for the Touchstone back and charging station. Best decision I've made involving this phone for sure!! That being said, the magnet has already fallen off once, but fortunately I was paying attention when it happened so I was able to recover the magnet. I glued it back on with some Gorilla Glue and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere now. If Palm used better adhesive this would easily be a 4 or 5-star review.

I have had both the original blue (non-Touchstone) cover and a black Touchstone cover for almost a year now. I have not had any trouble at all with either the magnet falling off nor the case warping for either of these covers. What I have had trouble with is getting the Touchstone charging system to work. It worked fine for a couple of weeks, and then gradually got less and less reliable. I had to take the phone off the Touchstone and put it back on several times before it would start charging. If I did not watch it to make sure it was really charging, the next morning I would find that it had not charged at all. Finally I concluded that it was less trouble to just charge the phone via USB cable and forget about the Touchstone. (Yes, I know that the Touchstone has to be used with the Touchstone cover in order to work.) I have no idea whether it was the Touchstone or the Touchstone cover that was defective. Too bad, because I really loved the Touchstone system when I could get it to work.UPDATE: It was the touchstone. I called HP/Palm tech support and they sent me a new touchstone. The system has worked flawlessly and conveniently ever since (that was a year ago!)
