Can I take this on an airplane in checked luggage?

It is NOT CO2, nor is it like hairspray propellant (isobutane - think propane - volatile and highly flammable. That’s why it’s used in potato cannons). It is non-flammable, but highly volatile R134a, a common refrigerant as used in your car’s A/C system. (It’s printed on the refill cartridge.) The cartridge weighs 15 grams, or about .6 ounces. The TSA allows up to 3.4 oz of liquid in carry-on bags, so it should be OK there and in checked luggage, especially in this small amount.

does this work with the legacy cork pops?

Yes these will work with the legacy cork pops. The box actually says legacy on the label.

The cartridge i received with a gifted cork pops opened only 4 bottles--not 60 as advertised. how many bottles in your experience does one cart. open?

I would say 50 bottles. Definitely not 4. It definitely depends on how much pressure you use. You don't need much to pop the cork. If you lay on it and let all the CO2 out you'll get much less. But 4 seems like it was not full.
