On Eve, her highly anticipated Savoy Records debut named for her own mother as well as the mythical mother of all living, the Beninese born, Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter builds on this ever-evolving legacy with a 13-track, three interlude set of melodically rich, rhythmically powerful expressions of female empowerment. These songs become all the more intimate and emotionally urgent with Kidjos dynamic collaborations with traditional women s choirs from Kenya and various cities and villages in Benin. The singer and her newfound native lady friends sing in a wide array of native Beninese languages, including Fon (Kidjo s first language), Yoruba, Goun, and Mina. Eve is an album of remembrance of African women I grew up with and a testament to the pride and strength that hide behind the smile that masks everyday troubles, says Kidjo, whose accolades include a 20 year discography, thousands of concerts around the world and being named Africa s premier diva (Time Magazine) and the undisputed Queen of African Music (Daily Telegraph). They exuded a positivity and grace in a time of hardship. On this recording I am letting the voices of the women show their beauty to the world, she adds. Eve is all about showcasing the positivity they bring to their villages, cities, culture and the world.

Intense
Intense, yes, this album is packed with the energy of strong, working women. Angélique is joined by many other voices, women's voices of Africa. This album is different from her other albums and each song in itself is unique. If you already have some of her music, do not imagine that this will be repetitive of earlier work. Add this album to your collection. The production quality is superb and the composition and sound editing is among the best I have ever heard.

Awesome voice. Awesome featured talent
After I heard an NPR interview with Angélique Kidjo, I decided to sample the music. I'm no expert on African musicians, but I know I like complex rhythms and a variety of styles and instrumentation. This CD has all that. And her voice is superb as well.

A joyous album
I preordered this album as soon as it was announced, so it goes without saying that I am a big fan of Angelique Kidjo. I had to wait a day after I received it to play it, but I made up for it by playing it 3 times already! I can provide some more of my impressions later, but if you are on the fence about purchasing this album (maybe if you are like me and were a bit disappointed with the last 2 releases) - get off the fence! This latest collection is Ms. Kidjo's interpretations of traditional Beninese and congolese folklore and folksongs and is an incredible offering of exhilerating rhythmns and melodies.

A Worthy CD from Angelique Kidjo
I have been waiting for some new music from her. I especially love M' Baamba. Shango Wa, and Bomba. I have always loved her afro beats. I like the more up tempo songs the most because they make you feel like dancing and moving. This is an excellent album and its thoroughly enjoyable.

African Music - My Love.
I heard just a snippet of a track from this disc on Radio 4. On the strength of that I bought this disc and another 'Oyo'. Eve is good but ,for me Oyo is much better with a greater cross-section of music.

Grande Album
CD a dir poco molto bello. Sonorità dal gusto africano, ma che strizzano l'occhio al suono "moderno" . la voce di Angelique è sinonimo di garanzia. Sicuramente un CD che dovrebbe stare in tutte le librerie musicali.
